Official Week 6 inactive-list update

New Orleans did not list Alvin Kamara inactive, making him active against the Giants after three limited practices with a back injury. Managers can keep him in lineups, while monitoring whether Kendre Miller absorbs more work than usual. Status checked at 12:18 p.m. Central on October 18, 2026. Alvin Kamara is officially questionable for New Orleans’ Week 6 road game against the New York Giants, leaving fantasy managers with another Sunday decision in a Saints backfield already missing Travis Etienne Jr.

The Saints’ final injury report lists Kamara with a back injury after he practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. New Orleans and New York kick off Sunday, October 18 at 1 p.m. ET — noon Central — at MetLife Stadium.

Kamara played through the injury last week — but barely

Kamara carried the same back designation into Week 5 after missing Wednesday’s practice and working on a limited basis Thursday and Friday. He was active against Minnesota, but the official box score shows only three carries for 12 yards.

That usage is the most important warning for fantasy managers. Active status does not guarantee a normal workload. Even if Kamara is cleared Sunday morning, his back injury and last week’s reduced role make him a volatile FLEX rather than an automatic RB2.

Kendre Miller has already moved ahead in the workload

Miller handled 10 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Minnesota. Through four games, his official NFL totals are 29 carries for 83 yards and two scores, plus four catches for 15 yards.

Kamara’s 2026 totals are 28 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns, with 13 receptions for 41 yards. The reception total still gives Kamara a path to PPR value, but Miller has the stronger recent rushing workload.

The Saints also placed Etienne on injured reserve on October 1, according to the team’s official roster move. That keeps Miller at the center of the contingency plan if Kamara cannot play or is again limited.

Week 6 fantasy recommendations

If Kamara is active: Treat him as a risky PPR FLEX. His passing-game role offers a floor, but Week 5 showed that New Orleans can sharply limit his carries.

If Kamara is inactive: Move Miller into RB2/FLEX consideration, especially in 12-team leagues. A workload near 12 to 16 touches would be reasonable, though his 2.9 yards per carry and small receiving role keep the ceiling touchdown-dependent.

If both are active: Miller is the safer bet for carries and short-yardage work, while Kamara is the better bet for receptions. Neither is a must-start in shallow leagues.

For DFS and props: Avoid assuming an active Kamara receives his historical workload. Recheck carry, reception and rushing-plus-receiving lines after the inactive list is released.

The matchup and game script

New Orleans enters the game 1-4, while the Giants are 3-1-1. A competitive first half would help Miller’s rushing volume. If the Saints fall behind, Kamara’s receiving ability could matter more — provided the back injury allows him to stay on the field.

Because both backs have averaged fewer than 3.2 yards per carry this season, fantasy value is more likely to come from volume, receptions and touchdown opportunities than explosive rushing plays.

When fantasy managers will know

The inactive list should be available roughly 90 minutes before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Managers should keep Kamara out of an early FLEX slot, preserve a late-window alternative when possible and be prepared to pivot to Miller if Kamara is ruled out.

Bottom line: Kamara’s questionable tag matters, but his Week 5 workload matters even more. If active, he is a cautious FLEX. If inactive, Miller becomes the primary Saints back and a usable Week 6 RB2/FLEX despite limited efficiency.
