Colts at Jaguars Week 8 Guide: Injuries, Fantasy, Odds and Prediction

Updated: 22 hours ago

Jacksonville remains the Football Nation pick because it owns the cleaner quarterback profile, the better turnover equation, home field and an extra week of preparation. The practical call remains Jaguars 27, Colts 17. The uncertainty is narrower but still meaningful after Wednesday practice estimates, and Indianapolis now must absorb the trades of Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner. Current game and player markets are included below with source snapshots and price thresholds.

Game information

  • Matchup: Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars, NFL Week 8.

  • Date and kickoff: Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. Central, 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

  • Venue: EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

  • Television: CBS, confirmed by the official NFL schedule and game page.

  • Streaming: the official Colts viewing guide lists live local and prime time mobile streaming through NFL Plus, with Sunday Ticket for eligible out of market viewing. The Jaguars game day page lists CBS 47 and Paramount Plus for the local broadcast. Availability depends on location, subscription and device, so confirm eligibility through the official team guides.

  • Records: Jacksonville 4-2 and first in the AFC South; Indianapolis 2-5 and tied with Houston behind the Jaguars.

  • Editorial cutoff: October 29, 2026 at 7:35 AM CDT. Market snapshots retain their separately labeled source times.

The matchup answer

The central question is whether Indianapolis can run efficiently enough to avoid placing Daniel Jones in obvious passing situations. Taylor has 587 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 140 carries, but Jacksonville’s defense has been the league’s toughest rushing unit by the TeamRankings snapshot: 72.2 rushing yards allowed per game and 3.2 yards per carry. If the Jaguars win first down, they can turn the game toward Jones, whose 59.6 percent completion rate, four touchdowns and seven interceptions have not produced a reliable answer.

Jacksonville has a broader offensive path. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 1,480 yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 65.2 percent of his passes. The Jaguars can attack an Indianapolis defense allowing 27.3 points and 351.2 yards per game in the TeamRankings comparison, and the Colts may again be without Sauce Gardner. That matchup becomes more favorable if Parker Washington, Travis Hunter and the backs can force replacement defensive backs to tackle in space.

Records, recent form and rest

Jacksonville enters 4 and 2 after a Week 7 bye. Its last result was a 34 to 31 loss to Houston in London, but Lawrence threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns while repeatedly answering a strong Texans defense. Jacksonville is 2 and 0 at EverBank Stadium this season, according to the Jaguars’ official Wednesday update, with wins over Cleveland and New England. The bye gave Liam Coen’s staff two weeks to prepare for a division opponent.

Indianapolis is 2-5 after three consecutive losses: 34-22 at Pittsburgh, 26-20 at home against Tennessee and 16-10 at Minnesota. The Colts led Minnesota early, ran effectively and held the unbeaten Vikings to 4.9 yards per play, but two missed field goals and a late Jones interception erased the upset chance. Indianapolis now travels for a second straight week while Jacksonville returns home after a bye.

TeamRankings lists Jacksonville 3-1 in the teams’ last four meetings across the previous three seasons. Jacksonville-focused Week 8 coverage also notes that Indianapolis has not won in Jacksonville since 2014. That history does not decide this game, but it reinforces the home-field challenge facing a Colts team already 1-3 on the road.

Current statistical comparison

ESPN’s current team pages, checked after Week 7, list Indianapolis at 180.4 passing yards, 117.6 rushing yards and 22.0 points per game while allowing 25.7. Jacksonville, which has played six games because of its bye, is at 234.8 passing yards, 112.8 rushing yards and 25.7 points per game while allowing 17.3. Those figures make the quarterback and defensive-efficiency gaps clear even before scheme enters the discussion.

The TeamRankings Week 8 matchup page showed the following at Monday’s check: Indianapolis 311.3 yards per game, 4.7 yards per play, 37.35 percent on third down and 63.16 percent in the red zone; Jacksonville 347.7 yards per game, 5.8 yards per play, 47.95 percent on third down and 66.67 percent in the red zone. TeamRankings had not yet folded the Colts’ Week 7 result into every displayed average, so its Indianapolis values are best treated as a through-Week-6 baseline rather than blended with ESPN’s current figures.

The defensive splits explain the matchup. Jacksonville’s displayed run defense allowed 72.2 yards per game, 3.2 per carry and a 40 percent red-zone touchdown rate. Its weakness was pass defense: 273.8 yards and 8.0 yards per pass allowed. Indianapolis’ defense allowed 122.5 rushing yards, 4.8 per carry and 7.6 yards per pass. Jacksonville therefore has two efficient avenues, while Indianapolis must decide whether it can exploit the Jaguars’ secondary without increasing turnover risk.

The turnover gap is the clearest number. The official NFL game page lists Indianapolis at minus-nine, last in the league, with only two defensive interceptions. Jacksonville is plus-five with seven interceptions. TeamRankings similarly shows Indianapolis at minus-1.3 turnovers per game and Jacksonville at plus-0.8. Neither pass rush has dominated: the NFL lists 13 Colts sacks and 11 Jaguars sacks, so coverage decisions and quarterback ball security matter more than raw pressure volume.

Injury report, trades and replacement plan

Information cutoff: October 29, 2026 at 7:33 AM CDT. Indianapolis conducted a Wednesday walk through, so its participation report was an estimate.

Jacksonville listed Antonio Johnson as the only nonparticipant because of an ankle injury. Montaric Brown and Brenton Strange were full participants. Ross Matiscik, Jakobi Meyers, Ruke Orhorhoro and Jahlani Tavai were limited. Meyers matters to the target distribution, while Brown and Johnson affect the secondary rotation. None of the Wednesday designations is a final game status.

Indianapolis also changed the matchup by trading guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to San Francisco. Seattle described the Nelson deal as pending a physical, while San Francisco announced the Buckner acquisition. Jalen Farmer and the remaining interior line options must replace Nelson's run blocking, and the Colts lose Buckner's four 2026 sacks and interior disruption. Those moves strengthen Jacksonville's run defense case against Jonathan Taylor and its own rushing case against Indianapolis.

Fantasy consequence in half PPR scoring: Taylor remains a start because of his touch floor, but Nelson's departure lowers the efficiency ceiling. Lawrence remains a viable streamer against the thinner Colts secondary. Bhayshul Tuten is a volatile flex because Chris Rodriguez Jr. has earned meaningful work. Warren's return would help Daniel Jones and reduce some target pressure on Josh Downs, but managers should wait for Friday's status.

Scheme and personnel keys

  • Taylor against the Jacksonville front: Indianapolis needs 20-plus efficient touches, but the Jaguars’ run defense can force the Colts away from their preferred script. The Colts should use motion, perimeter runs and Taylor as a receiver instead of repeatedly testing the interior.

  • Jones against split-field coverage: Jacksonville’s pass-defense yardage invites aggression, but the seven interceptions and plus-five turnover margin punish late throws. The best Indianapolis passing plan is quick rhythm, play action and Downs in space rather than a high-volume dropback game.

  • Lawrence against a stressed secondary: the Colts held Minnesota down despite Gardner’s absence, but Jacksonville can create more horizontal conflict. Hunter’s two-way role, Washington’s explosive production and Tuten’s receiving ability challenge replacement corners and linebackers.

  • Jaguars tackles against the Colts front: Harrison’s absence gives Indianapolis a chance to create pressure with stunts and interior movement. Adetomiwa Adebawore had two sacks in Minnesota and is a key part of the upset path.

  • Third down and red zone: Jacksonville’s 47.95 percent third-down rate and 66.67 percent red-zone rate are both top-nine TeamRankings marks. Indianapolis must force field goals; otherwise the Colts’ offense is unlikely to match Jacksonville drive for drive.

  • Coaching decision: Steichen must decide how long to preserve a run-heavy script if Jacksonville leads by two scores. Coen’s counter is to stay balanced and avoid giving Indianapolis short fields.

Market snapshot, movement and price sensitivity

The FOX Sports bet365 snapshot updated October 28 at 2:25 p.m. Eastern listed Jacksonville minus 9.5, Jaguars minus 500, Colts plus 375 and a total of 46.5. That produces an implied score of roughly Jacksonville 28, Indianapolis 18.5 before accounting for the bookmaker margin. The Football Nation prediction remains Jaguars 27, Colts 17.

The VegasInsider movement history checked October 29 at 7:17 a.m. Central showed Jacksonville moving from minus 9.5 to minus 10 late Wednesday while the total held at 46.5. The favorite position becomes less attractive above minus 9.5 because the divisional rematch, Taylor's workload and possible rain all support an Indianapolis path to shortening the game. These are published source snapshots, not executable quotes. Recheck the exact number, price and jurisdiction before kickoff.

Five current player prop tests

The five prices below were simultaneously displayed by DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM in the Edge Labs public comparison captured October 29 at 4:09 a.m. Eastern and checked by Football Nation at 7:02 a.m. Central. The DraftKings side is cited. Prices move, and each evaluation is a separate price test rather than a parlay recommendation.

Trevor Lawrence passing yards: lean over 240.5 at minus 113. Lawrence reached 245, 331 and 306 in three of six starts, and the Colts still have secondary uncertainty. The strongest counterargument is a Jacksonville rushing script. Pass at 247.5 or higher, or if Gardner returns fully and Jacksonville's receiver availability worsens.

Daniel Jones passing yards: lean under 187.5 at minus 112. Jones managed 108 yards at Minnesota, and Jacksonville can shorten drives on third down. The strongest counterargument is negative game script creating extra attempts. Pass on the under at 181.5 or lower. The under becomes stronger at 193.5 or higher if the same availability picture holds.

Jonathan Taylor rushing yards: lean over 62.5 at minus 114, with offensive line caution. Taylor cleared this number in six of seven games and remains the Colts' clearest route to competitiveness. Nelson's departure and a Jacksonville lead are the strongest cases against it. Pass above 69.5 or if Indianapolis announces a major line reshuffle.

Bhayshul Tuten rushing yards: lean over 60.5 at minus 114. He has 388 yards on 94 carries, and Buckner's departure weakens the middle of the Colts defense. The strongest counterargument is Rodriguez sharing early down work. Pass at 65.5 or higher, or if Jacksonville confirms an even rotation.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. rushing yards: lean under 27.5 at minus 113, but this is the least stable position. His 55 yards against Houston moved the number, yet his role was much smaller in the two previous games. Favorite game script is the strongest counterargument. Pass below 23.5, if Tuten is limited or if Jacksonville announces a larger Rodriguez package.

Fantasy football guidance

Scoring format: half-PPR, four points per passing touchdown. Start Lawrence as a midrange QB1 or strong streamer. The Colts’ low takeaway rate and secondary uncertainty support both floor and ceiling, although weather should be checked Sunday morning.

Taylor remains a start, but this is closer to an RB2 matchup than an automatic overall-RB1 spot because Jacksonville has erased rushing efficiency. Tuten is a flex with receiving upside and a stronger ceiling if Jacksonville controls the game. Washington is a flex, while Hunter can be used where his platform credits offensive production normally. Brian Thomas Jr. and Meyers require target confirmation after the bye.

Sit Jones in one-quarterback leagues; he is a low-floor superflex option only. Downs is a flex, especially if Warren remains out. Warren is a conditional start if he returns to full practice and avoids a game designation. Alie-Cox, Ogletree, Mallory and Brown are replacement-only plays until snap shares become clear.

Jacksonville’s defense is a preferred fantasy start because Indianapolis owns the league’s worst turnover differential. The Colts’ defense is a desperation streamer: the sack opportunity against replacement tackles exists, but Lawrence’s efficiency and Jacksonville’s third-down success create a low floor.

Touchdown market context

A verified current anytime touchdown comparison was not available in the source set checked at 7:17 a.m. Central, so no touchdown price is published here. Taylor has the clearest Indianapolis scoring role. Tuten and Rodriguez split Jacksonville rushing work, while Lawrence can finish drives through several receiving options. Wait for real posted markets, Friday availability and Sunday inactives rather than inventing a price.

Football Nation prediction

Prediction: Jaguars 27, Colts 17. Jacksonville’s quarterback advantage, plus-five turnover margin, extra rest and home field should create enough separation even if Indianapolis runs effectively for stretches.

Strongest counterargument: Indianapolis just held an unbeaten Minnesota team to 16 points and rushed for 154 yards. If that defense travels, Taylor controls possession and Jacksonville’s replacement tackles surrender pressure, the Colts can turn this into another one-score game.

Upset path: Indianapolis wins the turnover count, reaches at least 130 rushing yards, holds Jacksonville below 40 percent on third down and avoids giving Lawrence short fields. The fact that would change the call is a healthy return for Gardner and Warren combined with a wet, windy forecast that materially reduces Jacksonville’s passing advantage. A major Lawrence availability change would also flip the prediction.

Game-day checklist

  • Compare Thursday and Friday participation changes for Gardner, Warren, Walley, Allen, Boettcher, Brown and Matiscik. Cam Taylor Britt is on injured reserve and is not a Week 8 availability checkpoint.

  • Confirm Friday game designations and expected replacements.

  • Review official inactive lists about 90 minutes before kickoff.

  • Refresh the National Weather Service forecast for rain, thunderstorms and wind at EverBank Stadium.

  • Recheck spread, total and moneyline at the same legal market source and note any movement from the October 29 range of Jacksonville minus 9.5 to minus 10 with a total of 46.5.

  • Refresh the five named player prop prices and add touchdown prices only when current public markets can be verified.

  • Confirm the official team viewing guide and local streaming options.
