Cowboys 38, Eagles 21: Dak Prescott and Javonte Williams Take Over in Philadelphia

5 min read

Dallas answered its most important division game of the season with its best rushing performance and one of Dak Prescott’s cleanest nights. The Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38 to 21 at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday, October 26, 2026. Prescott threw three touchdown passes without an interception, Javonte Williams ran for a career high 155 yards, and Dallas scored the final 18 points after Philadelphia briefly moved ahead in the third quarter. Football Nation’s conclusion is direct: Dallas won because its offensive line controlled the game, its quarterback punished single coverage, and its defense produced the only turnover.

The result moved Dallas to 3 and 4 and dropped Philadelphia to 2 and 5. It also left the Eagles last in the NFC East behind the Giants, Cowboys and Commanders. The uncertainty now is less about what happened Monday and more about whether Dallas can repeat this physical formula against a different front. Philadelphia’s next checkpoint is its injury evaluation after Britain Covey was ruled out with a knee injury, Quinyon Mitchell left the game, and Dameon Pierce departed in the fourth quarter. No diagnosis beyond the team’s in game descriptions is assumed here.

How the game turned

Dallas opened the scoring with Brandon Aubrey’s 55 yard field goal, but Philadelphia answered when Saquon Barkley broke a 29 yard run on his first touch after missing two games and later finished the drive with an eight yard touchdown. Prescott then found CeeDee Lamb for a nine yard score, giving Dallas a 10 to 7 lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter stayed balanced. Pierce scored from five yards to put Philadelphia ahead. Prescott answered with a 21 yard touchdown to George Pickens, and Aubrey’s 27 yard field goal sent Dallas to halftime with a 20 to 14 lead. Philadelphia then produced its best possession of the night to open the third quarter: a 17 play, 84 yard drive that consumed 9 minutes and 16 seconds. Tanner McKee finished it with a four yard touchdown pass to rookie Makai Lemon, putting the Eagles ahead 21 to 20.

That was the Eagles’ last score. Prescott responded immediately with a 16 yard touchdown pass to Lamb and ran in the two point conversion. Aubrey added a 24 yard field goal early in the fourth. With Philadelphia trying to recover, DeMarvion Overshown intercepted McKee with 7 minutes and 55 seconds remaining. Quinnen Williams later recorded a sack, Dallas forced a turnover on downs, and Javonte Williams closed the scoring on a two yard run. The final 18 point Dallas surge converted a one point deficit into a comfortable road victory.

Prescott and the Dallas passing game

Prescott completed 15 of 27 passes for 212 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, producing a 118.1 passer rating. The volume was modest because Dallas did not need to chase the game, but the efficiency was decisive. Lamb caught five passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Pickens added four catches for 57 yards and a score. Ryan Flournoy supplied four catches for 70 yards, giving Dallas three receivers who repeatedly won when Philadelphia devoted resources to stopping the run.

The most important passing statistic may be zero: Prescott was not sacked. Philadelphia’s front did not register a sack, and Dallas stayed ahead of the chains often enough to keep the full playbook available. Prescott’s best football consequence was not merely the three scores. It was the absence of the negative plays that had previously tilted close games away from Dallas.

Williams and the offensive line controlled the terms

Williams carried 25 times for 155 yards and one touchdown. Dallas finished with a season high 204 rushing yards and 416 total yards. The Cowboys converted 8 of 13 third downs and scored touchdowns on 3 of 5 red zone trips. They possessed the ball for 30 minutes and 39 seconds, only a narrow advantage, but their late rushing success made the final minutes belong entirely to Dallas.

The Eagles allowed the game to become a tackle and gap discipline test, and Dallas kept winning it. Williams consistently reached the second level, while Prescott’s ability to hit Lamb and Pickens discouraged Philadelphia from loading every defender into the box. The strongest counterargument is that one productive night does not erase Dallas’s uneven start. That is fair. Still, the line’s protection and the balance between Williams and Prescott are repeatable traits, not a single broken play.

Philadelphia’s offense and the only turnover

McKee completed 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Lemon led Philadelphia with seven catches for 67 yards and the third quarter touchdown. Dallas Goedert caught five passes for 48 yards. Barkley finished with seven carries for 62 yards and a touchdown plus two receptions for nine yards. Pierce had 14 carries for 47 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game.

Philadelphia was efficient in the red zone, scoring touchdowns on all three trips, and finished 5 of 12 on third down. The problem was that the offense generated only 321 total yards and never scored after its long third quarter drive. Overshown’s interception was the game’s only turnover. Dallas played turnover free, and that one possession swing mattered because the Eagles were already down 31 to 21 and needed every remaining drive.

Team numbers that explain the 38 to 21 result

Dallas outgained Philadelphia 416 to 321, won first downs 25 to 23, converted 8 of 13 third downs compared with Philadelphia’s 5 of 12, and committed no turnovers to the Eagles’ one. Dallas scored on three of five red zone possessions while Philadelphia went three for three. The quarter scores were Dallas 10, 10, 8 and 10; Philadelphia 7, 7, 7 and 0. Dallas also produced the only two sacks of the game.

Fantasy football impact

Scoring format: half point per reception, four points per passing touchdown, minus two points per interception, six points per rushing or receiving touchdown, and standard yardage scoring. Based on the final box score, Prescott produced about 23.3 fantasy points when his two point conversion is included. Williams scored 21.5. Lamb scored 21.9, Pickens 13.7, Barkley 14.1, Pierce 11.3, Lemon 16.2 and McKee about 10.5. Individual platforms may differ because of bonuses or two point conversion settings.

The practical takeaway is that Williams remains a weekly starter when Dallas can stay balanced, while Lamb retains elite touchdown upside even on lower pass volume. Pickens remains a strong flex with end zone appeal. Barkley’s explosive first touch and touchdown were encouraging after the layoff, but his seven carries make the next practice report and usage plan important. Lemon’s seven receptions put him on the deeper league watch list. Pierce’s fantasy value depends on the medical update and on how the Eagles divide touches behind Barkley.

Standings consequence and what comes next

Dallas is 3 and 4 and has moved ahead of Philadelphia in the division. The Eagles are 2 and 5 and have lost five consecutive games, their first five game losing streak since 2016 according to Reuters. That puts urgency on every upcoming division game. Dallas must show that the run game and pass protection travel beyond this matchup. Philadelphia must stabilize its protection, clarify its injured personnel, and find a way to finish drives after halftime.

Next checkpoint: official postgame medical updates and the first Week 8 practice reports. Football Nation will also watch whether Dallas keeps Williams near this workload, whether Philadelphia restores Barkley to a larger share, and whether Prescott can maintain this turnover free efficiency. Those facts will matter more for future lineup decisions than the final margin alone.
