Official inactive list update

Factual cutoff: October 29, 2026 at 5:56 PM CDT. Devonte Wyatt is active against Carolina after being listed questionable with an ankle injury. Football consequence: Green Bay retains its most disruptive interior pass rusher for the Carolina matchup. Fantasy consequence: the Packers D/ST keeps more of its sack ceiling, while Wyatt remains usable in defensive-tackle-required IDP formats. Strongest counterargument: active status does not prove an unrestricted workload after Wyatt was limited on the short week. Next checkpoint: his first defensive series and third-down rotation.

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt is questionable for Thursday night’s Week 8 game against the Carolina Panthers because of an ankle injury. The decision matters beyond one rotational spot: Wyatt has supplied the interior disruption that can turn a merely solid team-defense start into a higher-upside fantasy result.

Factual cutoff: 6:17 a.m. Central on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Injury designations, participation estimates and season statistics were checked against the linked official team and NFL records at that time. The official inactive list is the next decisive checkpoint.

What changed on the Packers injury report

Wyatt briefly left Green Bay’s 20-17 loss at Detroit on Sunday, Oct. 25, but returned and finished the game. On the short turnaround, the Packers listed him as an estimated nonparticipant Monday, then upgraded him to limited participation for both Tuesday and Wednesday walkthroughs. Green Bay gave him a final questionable designation for the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff on Thursday, Oct. 29.

That progression is more encouraging than three straight absences, but the designation still carries real uncertainty on a condensed week. Fantasy managers should treat his availability as a game-time decision and check Green Bay’s inactive list before locking in a defensive-tackle slot.

Devonte Wyatt’s 2026 production

The Packers’ official statistics credit Wyatt with 18 total tackles, 10 solo tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble through seven games. His biggest fantasy spike came in Week 5 against Chicago, when he produced three tackles, two sacks and the forced fumble.

That profile makes Wyatt more valuable in formats that require defensive tackles or reward sacks and forced fumbles. He is not a volume-tackle starter in shallow, position-agnostic IDP leagues, but his interior pass-rush role creates useful ceiling in DT-premium scoring.

Why Wyatt’s status matters for Green Bay’s front

Green Bay’s concern is compounded by the rest of the front-seven report. Defensive tackle Anthony Campbell is also questionable with an ankle injury, while edge rusher Brenton Cox Jr. is questionable with a quadriceps issue. Linebacker Zaire Franklin has already been ruled out.

If Wyatt cannot play—or is active on a restricted workload—the Packers would have less proven interior pressure and less flexibility in their defensive-line rotation. That could make it easier for Carolina to stay on schedule on early downs and would place more of the disruption burden on Green Bay’s edge rushers and remaining interior linemen.

There is a counterweight for the Packers: Carolina has ruled out guards Damien Lewis and Torricelli Simpkins III. Quarterback Bryce Young has no game-status designation and is expected to play, according to the Packers’ official final injury report. The line matchup therefore remains attractive for Green Bay, but Wyatt’s availability can influence the unit’s sack and turnover ceiling.

Fantasy football impact

Scoring framework: Football Nation analysis assumes one point per solo tackle, half a point per assisted tackle, two points per sack, two points per forced fumble and one point per pass defended for IDP. Team defense context assumes standard scoring in which sacks and takeaways add value while points allowed can reduce it. Managers should adjust these recommendations to their league rules.

IDP: Wyatt is a conditional start in defensive-tackle-required leagues. If active, his two-sack Week 5 shows the kind of splash-play upside he carries, but the ankle injury and short week add snap-count risk. Managers with a comparable healthy Thursday alternative should favor certainty; managers in deeper DT formats can keep Wyatt in play if he is active.

Packers D/ST: Green Bay remains usable against Carolina, especially with two Panthers guards ruled out. Wyatt being active would strengthen the case for pressure through the middle. If he sits alongside the other front-seven absences, the Packers D/ST does not become an automatic fade, but its ceiling should be trimmed slightly.

Panthers skill players: Wyatt’s absence would be a modest positive for Carolina’s interior run game and pocket stability. It is not enough by itself to create a must-start fantasy option, because Green Bay can still generate pressure elsewhere and Carolina’s line is missing two guards.

Strongest counterargument

The strongest counterargument is that Wyatt may matter less than the questionable label suggests. He returned to finish the Detroit game, logged consecutive limited participation estimates, and Carolina will play without two guards. Green Bay can still create pressure from the edge, so its team defense remains usable even if Wyatt sits. Wyatt also delivered modest tackle production in six of seven games, which limits his individual floor even when active.

What to watch before kickoff

First, check the Packers’ inactive list for Wyatt, Campbell and Cox. Second, if Wyatt is active, watch Green Bay’s opening defensive series for whether he is part of the normal interior rotation. Third, monitor whether the Packers can collapse the pocket without heavy blitzing; that will be the clearest early sign of whether the front can maintain its usual disruption.

Bottom line

Wyatt’s limited participation on consecutive days gives him a plausible path to playing, and his return to Sunday’s game is another positive signal. Still, a questionable designation on a four-day turnaround is meaningful. He is best viewed as a volatile DT-format IDP option, while the Packers D/ST remains playable with a slightly lower ceiling if its top interior disruptor is unavailable.
