Archived pregame market analysis for Philadelphia at Chicago on September 28, 2026. The prices and matchup assumptions below belong to the original Monday reporting period. This report is published October 3 as dated background.

The best numbers on Monday morning point to a selective card: Jalen Hurts under 215.5 passing yards, Hurts over 24.5 rushing yards, DeVonta Smith over 5.5 receptions, D’Andre Swift over 13.5 receiving yards, Kyle Monangai over 9.5 rushing attempts and Kalif Raymond over 2.5 receptions. Those are line-sensitive opinions, not promises. The edge disappears if the market crosses the walk-away number listed with each play.

Philadelphia visits Chicago at Soldier Field at 7:15 p.m. Central on Monday, September 28. The official NFL schedule confirms the standalone Week 3 slot. The weather forecast is mostly clear and near 66 degrees around kickoff, so wind and precipitation are not driving this card.

Market snapshot and what moved

Prices were checked at 7:08 a.m. Central on September 28 across the publicly accessible DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and Fanatics boards shown by the live comparison screen. Every selected market appeared at two or more books; the price below is the best available quote on the checked screen. Public Saturday snapshots showed Hurts passing at 218.5 and Saquon Barkley rushing at 71.5. Monday’s board had moved Hurts down to 215.5 and Barkley up to 74.5. Hurts’ rushing line held at 24.5, while Rome Odunze’s receiving line settled from 27.5 to 25.5.

That movement matters. It improves the case for Hurts’ passing under but makes Barkley’s rushing over less attractive after he left Week 2 with a stinger. Barkley practiced fully Friday and Saturday and carries no game designation, yet Football Nation would rather pass than chase a three-yard move.

1. Jalen Hurts under 215.5 passing yards (-113, DraftKings)

Football Nation probability: 55%. Hurts has 467 passing yards through two games, an average of 233.5, but the median path tonight is lower than that raw baseline. Philadelphia is favored by 3.5 and Chicago will start a backup quarterback because Caleb Williams is out. That game shape gives the Eagles reasons to protect the ball and lean on the run after halftime. Chicago’s defense also rebounded from allowing 37 points in Week 1 to holding Minnesota to nine points and 246 net yards in Week 2.

The strongest counterargument is Hurts’ most recent game: 26-of-37 for 264 yards and two touchdowns against Tennessee. If Chicago creates pressure without blitzing or the Bears score early, Philadelphia can remain aggressive. Walk away if the under falls below 210.5 yards or the price becomes worse than -125.

2. Jalen Hurts over 24.5 rushing yards (-113, FanDuel)

Football Nation probability: 56%. Hurts has 62 rushing yards through two games, or 31 per game. His mobility is also the cleanest way to attack a defense that may devote extra bodies to Barkley. The passing total moving down while the rushing line stayed at 24.5 creates a useful split: the market is trimming Philadelphia’s aerial ceiling without fully pricing a scramble-heavy alternative.

The case against it is game management. A lead could reduce designed quarterback runs, and kneel-downs count against the total. Do not play it at 29.5 or higher, and pass if late news suggests Philadelphia plans to limit Hurts’ designed rushing workload.

3. DeVonta Smith over 5.5 receptions (-105, BetMGM)

Football Nation probability: 57%. Smith enters with 13 catches for 170 yards and a touchdown. In Week 2, he caught 10 of 13 targets for 117 yards and the score. He also finished Saturday’s practice in full after a hamstring issue and has no game designation. With Dallas Goedert and Marquise Brown ruled out, the short and intermediate target tree is narrower than usual.

The counter is volume volatility. A run-first Eagles win could leave Smith with only six or seven targets, and hamstring symptoms can return during a game. The over remains attractive at 5.5 through -125; at 6.5 receptions, it becomes a pass.

4. D’Andre Swift over 13.5 receiving yards (-113, FanDuel)

Football Nation probability: 58%. Swift caught five passes for 54 yards in Week 2 after only one catch for 10 yards in the opener. He has six receptions for 64 yards on the season. Tyson Bagent cleared concussion protocol and is available, but the Bears should still favor throws that ask less of a backup quarterback. Swift’s checkdowns and screens can reach this number on two ordinary completions.

The strongest objection is role competition. Monangai has earned work, and Swift’s Week 1 receiving line shows how quickly this market can vanish. The bet is no longer attractive at 17.5 yards, or if late lineup news suggests a meaningful reduction in Swift’s third-down role.

5. Kyle Monangai over 9.5 rushing attempts (-116, DraftKings)

Football Nation probability: 56%. Monangai has exactly 10 carries in each game and has turned 20 attempts into 147 yards and one touchdown. He practiced fully after a knee issue and is available. With Williams out and Philadelphia favored, Chicago’s best route to protecting Bagent is maintaining two-back volume instead of asking him to win with dropbacks.

The strongest counterargument is that Swift is still the lead back. If Philadelphia jumps ahead by multiple scores, Chicago may abandon the run before Monangai reaches double digits. At 10.5 attempts this becomes a pass because the difference between 10 and 11 is meaningful in his current role.

6. Kalif Raymond over 2.5 receptions (-114, FanDuel)

Football Nation probability: 55%. Raymond has 13 catches for 124 yards through two games. He opened with eight receptions for 84 yards, leaving five catches for 40 yards in Week 2. A quick-game plan for Bagent should preserve the high-percentage underneath targets that have powered Raymond’s early usage.

The strongest case against it is target competition. Rome Odunze, Swift and Chicago’s tight ends all command designed looks, and backup-quarterback efficiency can collapse an entire passing tree. The play loses appeal at 3.5 receptions or at a price worse than -125.

Injury and lineup checkpoint

Chicago ruled Williams out. Bagent and Monangai practiced fully Saturday and carry no game designation. Philadelphia ruled out Goedert and Brown. Barkley and Smith both progressed to full participation and have no designation. Those final reports are why the receiving-volume props are playable while Barkley’s moved rushing line is not.

The public market is fluid. Recheck every number and the active lists before kickoff; a different line is a different bet. These are independent editorial opinions with no sportsbook sponsorship or affiliate relationship.

Football Nation conclusion

The strongest two positions are Swift over 13.5 receiving yards and Smith over 5.5 receptions because both pair a modest threshold with a clear short-area role. Hurts’ passing under and rushing over work together as a game-script thesis, but each should be evaluated separately. Monangai and Raymond are smaller role-based edges. If the market crosses the published walk-away numbers, the correct action is to pass rather than force exposure to Monday night.
