Eli Raridon Scores Again: Is Patriots Rookie a Week 8 Fantasy Stash?
New England Patriots rookie tight end Eli Raridon turned four targets into three receptions, 56 yards and a 30-yard touchdown in Thursday night's 30-24 loss to the Chicago Bears on October 22. That was 14.6 PPR fantasy points, and it raised a useful question before Week 8: is the third-round pick becoming more than a dynasty stash?
The short answer is yes in deeper formats—but the volume still says patience. Raridon is now at 12 receptions, 168 yards and two touchdowns for the season. His 14.0 yards per catch leads New England's tight ends and shows why his seam-running role can create usable fantasy weeks even before he becomes a full-time player.
What changed against Chicago
Raridon's Week 7 line was his best yardage performance of the season. The most important play was not simply the touchdown result; it was how the Patriots created it. New England returned to a concept that had produced a Drake Maye interception earlier, and Raridon won the foot race up the seam against linebacker Devin Bush for the 30-yard score.
That matters because it gives Raridon a repeatable path to targets. He does not need manufactured screens or broken tackles to matter. At 6-foot-6 with 4.62-second speed, he was drafted to stress linebackers and safeties vertically. The Patriots' preseason position review noted that he caught eight passes on throws of more than 20 air yards in his final college season, the most among draft-eligible tight ends.
The fantasy case—and the reason not to chase
Raridon's efficiency is exciting, but Hunter Henry still owns the safer weekly role. Through seven games, Henry has 26 receptions for 296 yards and two touchdowns, compared with Raridon's 12-168-2 line. Henry also remained Maye's trusted outlet against Chicago, including a third-down conversion after the quarterback escaped pressure.
That creates a clear fantasy split. Raridon offers the higher-variance vertical play, while Henry remains the stronger bet for routes, receptions and third-down work. A touchdown on four targets is not enough to call Raridon a locked-in starter, and managers should not cut a stable top-12 tight end for him.
How to handle Raridon before Week 8
10- and 12-team leagues: Keep Raridon on the watch list unless you have room for a second tight end. He is a matchup-dependent streamer, not an automatic starter.
14-team and tight-end-premium leagues: Add him as a bench stash. Two touchdowns on only 12 catches give him a real ceiling if his target share rises.
Dynasty leagues: Hold or buy before the role fully expands. Raridon is 22, Henry is 31, and New England used a third-round pick on the rookie as a potential long-term successor.
Daily fantasy: Treat him as a tournament option only when his salary is low. The big-play path is real, but a four-target night can also produce a very low floor.
The Week 8 checkpoint at Miami
New England visits the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 1 at 4:25 p.m. ET. Fantasy managers should track three things before setting lineups: whether Raridon reaches five or more targets, whether he continues to share the field with Henry in two-tight-end packages, and whether Maye looks to him again near the goal line.
A second straight game with four-plus targets would be more persuasive than another touchdown by itself. Targets and routes are the leading indicators; touchdowns are the volatile payoff. If Raridon's involvement grows at Miami, he can enter the Week 9 streaming conversation when New England hosts Green Bay.
Bottom line
Raridon is a legitimate fantasy stash after his 3-56-1 breakout, especially in deep, tight-end-premium and dynasty leagues. The athletic traits are translating, and his 14.0 yards per reception create ceiling at a thin position. For standard redraft leagues, however, Henry's established role and Raridon's four-target Week 7 workload keep the rookie in the stash tier rather than the start tier.
