A Thursday Night Football matchup between two struggling teams suddenly carries real intrigue. The Baltimore Ravens travel to Miami to face the Dolphins, with Lamar Jackson expected to return under center. Baltimore enters as a 7.5-point favorite on the road, while the total is set at 50 — one of the highest of the week.
Early Prediction: Dolphins +7.5
The 2025 Miami Dolphins have had their fair share of low moments, but their competitiveness at home can’t be ignored. Despite losses to playoff-caliber teams like the Patriots and Chargers, Miami has averaged 27 points per game in its own stadium and ranks among the top ten in yards per play.
Baltimore’s defense, on the other hand, has been far from dominant. The Ravens have allowed 37 or more points four times this season and sit near the bottom of the league in several key categories — 25th in yards allowed per play, 28th on third down, and 26th in the red zone. They’ve also struggled to pressure opposing quarterbacks, ranking 30th in QB pressure percentage.
Given Miami’s offensive talent and home-field energy, the Dolphins look capable of keeping this matchup closer than the spread suggests.
Early Total Pick: Over 50
If picking the Dolphins against the spread feels risky, the total offers a more confident angle. The Over has hit in nine straight Dolphins home games, thanks to consistent scoring production — 27 or more points in eight straight contests in Miami.
The Ravens have been just as reliable for Over bettors, cashing in six of their seven games this season. In the four games Lamar Jackson has started, all have cleared 57 combined points, averaging an explosive 66 points per outing.
Miami’s defense remains a major concern. The Dolphins rank near the bottom of the league in points allowed, yards per play allowed, and third-down defense. With Baltimore scoring 30 or more points in seven of its last eight games with Jackson as the starter, this matchup sets up for another offensive showcase.
Why the Ravens Can Cover
Baltimore finally looked like its preseason self in last week’s two-touchdown win over the Chicago Bears. The Ravens played turnover-free football, ran for 177 yards and two scores, and allowed only 16 points — their best defensive showing of the season.
Even with Jackson missing significant time, Baltimore still ranks second in yards per rush at 5.3. Derrick Henry continues to move up the all-time rushing touchdown list, recently passing Walter Payton, and should find plenty of running lanes against a Miami defense allowing the fourth-most yards per carry.
The Dolphins’ secondary has also struggled, allowing the highest completion percentage in the league, the fewest interceptions, and the second-highest passer rating.
Why the Dolphins Can Cover
Despite a rough record, Miami has quietly gone 4-2 against the spread in its last six games. The Dolphins are coming off their best overall performance of the season — a 34-10 win over Atlanta that showcased balance on both sides of the ball.
Even without Tyreek Hill, this offense still has playmakers. De’Von Achane has produced at least 91 scrimmage yards or a touchdown in nine straight games, and Jaylen Waddle has topped 95 receiving yards in three of his last four.
Tua Tagovailoa’s protection should also hold up, as Baltimore ranks near the bottom of the league in sacks. Given the Ravens’ defensive struggles — bottom-five in points, yards, and passing defense — Miami’s offense has a realistic path to covering at home.

Final Prediction
Miami’s defense is a sell-high candidate after a strong showing against an Atlanta team missing key offensive weapons. Baltimore’s offense, on the other hand, is trending upward — averaging 30+ points in every full Lamar Jackson start this season.
Assuming Jackson and tackle Ronnie Stanley both return, the Ravens should continue that trend. Oddsmakers are likely to list Baltimore’s team total around 28.5 points, and it’s a number they’ve cleared consistently with their MVP quarterback in the lineup.
Expect fireworks on Thursday night — both teams should move the ball, and points won’t be in short supply.
Pick: Over 50 | Lean: Dolphins +7.5
