Titans Open Dorian Mausi's Return Window Before Browns Game

The Tennessee Titans have opened the door for linebacker Dorian Mausi to rejoin the active roster, but he is not there yet. Tennessee designated Mausi to return to practice Wednesday, starting a 21-day evaluation window before the club must activate him or leave him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

Mausi was listed as a full participant with a foot injury on Wednesday's Week 7 injury report. That is an encouraging first checkpoint ahead of Sunday's home game against the Cleveland Browns, though practice participation alone does not guarantee that he will be activated or dress for the game.

What the return designation means

The designation allows Mausi to practice without immediately taking a spot on Tennessee's 53-man roster. The Titans can activate him at any point during the 21-day window, giving the medical staff and coaches time to evaluate his conditioning, movement and readiness for contact.

For fans tracking the roster, the distinction matters: Mausi has returned to practice, not to the active roster. Tennessee would need to announce a separate activation before he could play against Cleveland or in another game.

Why Mausi matters to the Titans

Mausi's clearest path to an immediate role is on special teams. As a rookie in 2025, he appeared in all 17 games and finished third on the Titans with nine special-teams tackles. The 6-foot-1, 234-pound linebacker was originally claimed off waivers from Minnesota during final roster cutdowns before that season.

That background gives Tennessee a known coverage player who can help stabilize the game-day units if he is activated. Special-teams snaps also offer a practical way to ease him back before expanding any defensive role. His return would add linebacker depth without requiring the Titans to force a major defensive workload immediately.

Week 7 impact against Cleveland

The Browns matchup creates a reasonable target date, but the Titans do not need to rush the decision. Mausi's full Wednesday practice puts him on a positive track; the next signals are whether he maintains that level through the week and whether Tennessee makes a corresponding 53-man roster move.

If active, Mausi could help on kickoff and punt coverage while giving the defense another athletic linebacker option. That impact may not show up in traditional box-score statistics, but field position and coverage reliability can matter in a game likely to put pressure on both teams' depth.

Fantasy football and IDP outlook

Mausi's designation does not materially change standard offensive fantasy rankings. He should remain off redraft rosters, and even in individual defensive player formats he is only a watch-list name until activation and a defined defensive snap share.

The potential fantasy effect is indirect. A healthy special-teams contributor and added linebacker depth are small positives for the Titans defense/special teams unit, but not enough by themselves to change streaming decisions. Managers should base any Titans D/ST call primarily on the full injury report, opponent quarterback situation and projected game environment.

What to watch next

  • Whether Mausi remains a full participant through the rest of the practice week.

  • Whether Tennessee activates him before Sunday's game against Cleveland.

  • Any corresponding roster move required to add him to the 53-man roster.

  • His initial split between special teams and defensive snaps if he is active.

The headline for now is progress, not availability. Mausi is back on the practice field, and his 2025 special-teams production gives Tennessee a useful role to restore if he clears the final steps.
