Tucker Kraft Fantasy Outlook 2026: Draft Him After the ACL?
Updated: Aug 7
Tucker Kraft is draftable as a high-upside 2026 fantasy tight end, but his current price should reflect one unresolved question: he has been activated from the physically unable to perform list without yet proving a full team-workload return from his torn right ACL. The practical call is to target Kraft after the safest every-week tight ends are gone, preferably in Round 7 or later in a 12-team league. A Round 6 pick is defensible only for managers willing to carry early-season health risk.
That recommendation is built on an unusually strong combination of production and uncertainty. Kraft was the TE2 in fantasy scoring before his 2025 injury, according to CBS Sports, and had 32 catches for 489 yards and six touchdowns in eight games. Green Bay activated him from PUP on July 31, but Reuters reported that he was still limited to individual work and walkthroughs at that point.
The upside is real enough to chase. The discount is necessary enough to enforce.
The immediate fantasy answer
Draft Kraft as a TE1 with top-five upside, not as a fully cleared set-and-forget option. If he is participating in full team drills before the Packers’ final preseason week, his combination of efficiency, red-zone role and yards after the catch makes him a strong target once the position’s elite tier is gone. If he remains limited deep into August, pair him with a second tight end and push the pick back.
Football Nation’s draft approach:
• Round 6: Acceptable only in tight-end-premium formats or for managers comfortable building in a backup plan. • Round 7: The preferred target range in standard 12-team PPR drafts if full-practice reports arrive. • Round 8 or later: A clear value because the price no longer assumes a seamless Week 1 workload. • Still limited near the end of August: Draft a second tight end and do not project an immediate snap ceiling away.
This is an editorial ranking recommendation, not a report of Kraft’s exact current ADP. CBS Sports specifically flags a sixth-round selection as carrying risk because of the ACL recovery. The goal is to buy the ceiling without paying as if the medical question has already disappeared.
Why Kraft’s 2025 production matters
Kraft was not merely compiling catches before the injury. CBS credited him with 2.33 yards per route run and 8.8 yards after the catch per reception, both elite tight-end efficiency indicators. His eight-game line projected to 64 catches, 978 yards and 12 touchdowns over a full season. The Packers noted that those yardage and touchdown paces would have challenged or broken team tight-end records.
That profile separates Kraft from the usual late-round touchdown bet. He can win after the catch, create explosive plays and remain involved near the goal line. Green Bay does not need to manufacture 10 short receptions per game for him to return starter-level fantasy value. Efficiency and touchdowns can do much of the work.

What the ACL recovery changes
The injury happened Nov. 2, 2025. Kraft underwent surgery and spent the offseason rebuilding toward a Week 1 return. In June, he told the Packers his goal was to open the season without a pitch count. The team reported that he had reached 21.5 mph during rehabilitation work and experienced minimal swelling, encouraging signs that should inform the outlook without being mistaken for a full medical clearance.
Activation from PUP is another positive marker because it allows Kraft to practice and avoids an automatic regular-season absence. It does not guarantee his snap share, route volume or availability for the opener. Reuters reported on July 31 that Green Bay was taking a cautious approach and that Kraft had not yet joined team drills.
Fantasy managers should therefore track practice level, not just roster status. “Activated” answers an administrative question. Full-speed team participation over consecutive practices answers the fantasy question.
The Packers context
Josh Jacobs’ groin injury update matters because Green Bay’s offense already has multiple summer health variables. A healthy Kraft gives Jordan Love a middle-of-the-field and red-zone target who can turn shorter throws into chunk gains.
MarShawn Lloyd’s return also affects how Green Bay can distribute touches behind Jacobs. The backfield is crowded, but Kraft’s role is different: he can threaten linebackers, block well enough to stay on the field and generate fantasy points without needing running-back volume.
Zach Ertz’s ACL-return outlook is a useful reminder that clearance and workload are separate checkpoints. Kraft is younger and was producing at a higher fantasy level before his injury, but the same principle applies: practice participation and role evidence should move rankings more than optimistic timelines alone.

The projection—and the risk
CBS Sports projects Kraft for 55 catches, 811 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2026. That would make him a weekly starter and a difference-maker at a position where touchdowns often separate the middle tier. It is also an aggressive outcome for a player returning from a major knee injury, which is why the draft price matters more than the name.
The main downside is not that Kraft suddenly lacks talent. It is that Green Bay could reduce early snaps, rotate Luke Musgrave more heavily or ease Kraft back into blocking and route volume. Even two or three quiet weeks would hurt managers who drafted him at his ceiling and did not select a fallback.
The best response is not to remove Kraft from draft boards. It is to price the uncertainty correctly.
Playable recovery video
Verified reporter Lily Zhao posted the public video below on May 22. It shows Kraft moving through a recovery workout and directly documents the rehabilitation at the center of this draft decision. Before publication, Football Nation verified that the X post contains a 5.59-second video and that its public MP4 endpoint returned playable video data.
Final draft recommendation
Kraft belongs in the 2026 TE1 conversation because his pre-injury production was already there. He scored, generated yards after the catch and earned an every-down role. The ACL recovery is the only reason he should be available outside the earliest tight-end run.
Draft him aggressively once the price reaches Round 7, move him up if full team practices become routine and protect the roster with a second option if he remains limited. That approach captures the top-five ceiling without pretending activation from PUP is the same as being ready for 60 snaps in Week 1.
