Bills at Raiders Week 6 Guide: Injuries, Fantasy and Pick

5 min read

Buffalo reaches Las Vegas at 4 and 1 after an overtime win against the Rams. The Raiders are 3 and 2 after two straight losses, but their early record and home field make this more than a simple favorite against a fading team. Buffalo has the better quarterback and the more dependable rushing production. Las Vegas has enough receiving talent to test a Bills defense carrying five questionable players.

Factual cutoff: Friday, October 16, 2026 at 7:48 PM Central. Team statistics cover completed games through Week 5. Injury designations are from the final Friday reports. Market figures are dated published snapshots, not executable live quotes.

Game information

Bills at Raiders, Sunday, October 18 at 4:25 PM Eastern, 3:25 PM Central, at Allegiant Stadium. CBS carries the game. Buffalo is 4 and 1. Las Vegas is 3 and 2.

Final injury picture

Buffalo listed five players as questionable: receivers DJ Moore and Joshua Palmer, defensive linemen Ed Oliver and T.J. Sanders, and corner Dee Alford. Moore and Oliver improved from no practice Wednesday and Thursday to limited work Friday. Sanders improved to full participation Friday. Right tackle Spencer Brown finished the week as a full participant and the team said he will play.

Las Vegas ruled out defensive tackle Tonka Hemingway, tight end Carter Runyon, and receiver Dont'e Thornton Jr. Guard Trey Zuhn III is questionable. The biggest positive is that Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty practiced fully Friday and carry no game designation. Bowers' earlier knee limitation remains context, but the final report does not support labeling him limited for Sunday.

Buffalo's defensive questions matter because Las Vegas can attack through the middle with Bowers and force difficult coverage decisions. Oliver's availability affects the Bills interior rush and run defense. On the other side, Moore and Palmer influence how much receiving depth Josh Allen has against an aggressive Raiders defense.

When Buffalo has the ball

The Bills should begin with James Cook and make Las Vegas prove it can stop the run without overcommitting. Cook had 532 rushing yards on 95 carries through Week 5, a 5.6 yard average with five rushing touchdowns. The Raiders have allowed too many efficient rushing days, and Buffalo's line can create the favorable down and distance that keeps the full playbook open.

Josh Allen then becomes the multiplier. He had 239 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns through five games, which means the Raiders cannot sell out against Cook near the goal line. Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonce can still disrupt the passing game if Buffalo falls behind the sticks. Las Vegas uses pressure aggressively, so Allen's quickest answers and the backs' protection assignments will be central.

The Raiders' best defensive plan is to win first down, force Buffalo into obvious passing situations, and make Allen hold the ball long enough for Crosby to matter. The risk is that heavy pressure creates open space for Allen outside the pocket. Buffalo does not need a high volume deep passing game if Cook and Allen keep producing efficient runs.

When Las Vegas has the ball

Kirk Cousins has to punish any weakened Buffalo coverage group without letting the Bills rush control the game. Bowers is the natural matchup piece. He had 24 catches for 312 yards and three touchdowns through Week 5. His full participation is important, but Buffalo can still bracket him if the Raiders do not establish threats elsewhere.

Jeanty had 291 rushing yards on 88 carries, a 3.3 yard average, plus 215 receiving yards on 22 catches. His receiving work gives Las Vegas a useful answer to pressure, yet the Raiders need better rushing efficiency to keep Allen off the field. If Buffalo's questionable defensive linemen are limited or inactive, Las Vegas has a clearer reason to test the middle.

The Raiders should lean on play action, Bowers between the numbers, and Jeanty as an outlet. Cousins is most vulnerable when the offense becomes predictable and he must wait for longer routes. Buffalo can create that situation by controlling first down and keeping its coverage rules sound.

Fantasy football consequences

Cook remains an automatic fantasy start in standard formats because his workload and efficiency are supported by five games of production. Allen remains an elite quarterback regardless of the opponent, though Cook can take some of the rushing volume in a Buffalo controlled game. Khalil Shakir and the tight ends are usable, but Moore and Palmer availability can redistribute targets.

Bowers remains a strong start after finishing the week with full participation and no designation. Jeanty's receiving role protects some of his floor even if rushing efficiency remains uneven. Cousins is a matchup driven streaming option in deeper leagues because Buffalo's secondary and defensive line questions can create opportunities, but a Buffalo lead can also make the Raiders one dimensional.

Market context, not a live quote

A published opening snapshot on October 13 listed Buffalo by 5.5 with a total of 53.5 and moneyline prices of Buffalo minus 250 and Las Vegas plus 205. Later public listings showed Buffalo closer to a 4.5 point favorite. These are dated snapshots rather than an authenticated current screen, so Football Nation is not presenting an executable price or claiming continuous movement.

Prediction and strongest counterargument

Football Nation prediction: Bills 31, Raiders 27. Buffalo has the best player in Allen and the most reliable rushing matchup through Cook. The Raiders can score enough to stay close, especially if Buffalo's questionable defenders are limited, but the Bills have more ways to recover when a drive begins poorly.

The strongest counterargument is that Las Vegas turns this into a protection and turnover game. Crosby creates a short field, Bowers repeatedly wins inside, and the Raiders keep Allen on the sideline with longer possessions. Buffalo also stayed on the West Coast after Monday night's game, so recovery and preparation have been different from a normal home week.

Next checkpoint: confirm the Sunday inactive list about 90 minutes before kickoff, especially Moore, Palmer, Oliver, Sanders, Alford, and Zuhn. A fresh market and any unexpected Bowers or Jeanty limitation also require a new check.
