Cardinals Promote Kingsley Eguakun: Week 8 O-Line and Fantasy Impact
The Arizona Cardinals promoted interior offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun from the practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday, October 28, adding experienced depth before Sunday’s road game against the Dallas Cowboys. The timing matters because starting right guard Jon Gaines II (ankle) and starting right tackle Elijah Wilkinson (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

The quick answer
Eguakun is active-roster insurance at center and guard; the move does not make him an automatic Week 8 starter.
Arizona’s official depth chart still lists Gaines at right guard, Hjalte Froholdt at center and Hayden Conner as the primary interior reserve.
The promotion is a small positive for lineup stability, but fantasy managers should wait for Friday practice statuses and Sunday inactives before changing any Cardinals or Cowboys D/ST ranking.
Why Arizona made the move now
Arizona used the roster spot opened when wide receiver Jalen Brooks went to injured reserve. Eguakun had already been elevated for the Cardinals’ Week 7 game while Gaines was dealing with the ankle injury, and the permanent promotion keeps an interior blocker available without another temporary elevation.
The broader Wednesday report showed nine Cardinals who did not participate. In addition to Gaines and Wilkinson, left guard Isaac Seumalo received a veteran rest day. That does not mean Arizona will replace three starters on Sunday, but it explains why an interior reserve became a priority early in the week.
What Eguakun brings to the Cardinals
Eguakun is a 6-foot-3, 307-pound center/guard who entered the league as an undrafted free agent. He appeared in four games and made two starts for Detroit in 2025, logging 138 offensive snaps. According to the Cardinals’ team bio, his first NFL start came at center against Pittsburgh, when he did not allow a sack or quarterback hit and surrendered one pressure.
His college résumé also fits the emergency-depth role: Eguakun played 44 games with 30 starts at Florida. The team bio credits him with allowing one sack across 1,029 pass-blocking snaps from 2021 through 2023.
That experience is useful, but Arizona has not announced a starting-lineup change. Eguakun was not yet listed on the public depth chart Wednesday night. The safest interpretation is that he gives the Cardinals another game-day option at center or guard if Gaines cannot play or if the team needs to shuffle positions around him.
Fantasy football impact
Jacoby Brissett
No ranking change is warranted from the transaction alone. Brissett has thrown for 1,600 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions this season while taking 15 sacks. The bigger signal will be whether Gaines and Wilkinson return to practice. If both remain sidelined, Dallas’ defensive front gets a more attractive matchup and Brissett carries extra pressure risk.
Tyler Allgeier and Jeremiyah Love
The promotion is not a standalone boost for either running back. Allgeier has 176 rushing yards at 2.9 yards per carry and missed Wednesday’s practice with a toe injury. Love has 245 rushing yards at 3.7 yards per carry and was limited by an ankle issue. Their own health, touch distribution and Arizona’s final five-man line matter more than the addition of one reserve.
Trey McBride
McBride remains the safest Arizona fantasy start. He leads the team with 59 receptions for 472 yards and four touchdowns. Offensive-line instability can create more quick throws, but it can also reduce route volume if tight ends are asked to help in protection. The roster move does not change his core role.
Cowboys D/ST
Dallas’ defense remains a viable Week 8 streaming consideration, especially if multiple Arizona linemen are inactive. Do not treat Eguakun’s promotion as proof the matchup has swung, though. The final practice report, official inactives and Arizona’s announced starters should drive the decision.

The health of Allgeier and Love, which will affect the backfield more directly than this transaction.
Bottom line
Promoting Eguakun is a sensible depth move for an Arizona line with two right-side starters on the injury report. His prior center experience gives the Cardinals flexibility, but there is not enough evidence yet to call him a starter or to make a major fantasy adjustment. Treat the move as insurance, then use the final injury report and inactive list to decide how much it changes the Cardinals-Cowboys matchup.
