Final Friday status: Oct. 30, 2026

Confirmed: Tennessee downgraded wide receiver Carnell Tate from doubtful to out for Week 8 against Cincinnati. Football Nation conclusion: Tate is unavailable and must come out of lineups; redistribute opportunity only among active Titans receivers after the inactive list confirms the final group.

Next checkpoint: Check Tennessee’s inactive list for the final receiver rotation, but Tate will not play.

Editorial note: This Friday update controls over the earlier practice progression retained below as dated context.

At the earlier 2 p.m. Central cutoff, the NFL Friday news roundup listed Tennessee Titans wide receiver Carnell Tate as doubtful because of a shoulder injury. The Titans team page had not yet populated its final Friday practice and game status fields. The final injury report later superseded that preliminary designation and ruled Tate out.

Why Tate’s status matters to Tennessee

Tate is not a peripheral loss. Through seven games, the rookie leads Tennessee with 34 receptions and 413 receiving yards, averaging 12.2 yards per catch with one touchdown. He accounts for 35.0% of the Titans’ 1,179 passing yards and is the only Tennessee receiver above 205 yards.

Cam Ward has completed 129 of 208 passes for 1,179 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions. Removing his leading receiver would tighten an already narrow passing game margin: Tennessee is averaging 5.7 yards per pass attempt and has scored only four passing touchdowns.

Titans WR depth chart: who gains with Tate out?

Tennessee’s unofficial depth chart lists Elic Ayomanor directly behind Tate. Ayomanor has turned 10 catches into 177 yards and one touchdown, a team best 17.7 yards per reception among players with at least 10 catches. That makes him the clearest candidate to inherit Tate’s outside snaps and downfield routes.

Wan’Dale Robinson is the higher floor volume option. He has 29 catches for 205 yards and two touchdowns, but his 7.1 yards per reception points to a shorter area role rather than a direct Tate replacement. Calvin Ridley remains another starting receiver, though the Titans listed him as limited Wednesday and Thursday because of a hip injury. His final designation also matters before fantasy managers assume a full workload.

Chimere Dike is listed behind Ridley, while Ayomanor is the named backup at Tate’s spot. That structure suggests Ayomanor is the most logical snap count riser with Tate out, with Robinson more likely to absorb underneath targets.

Week 8 fantasy football impact

Tate managers must remove him from Week 8 lineups because the final report lists him out. There is no remaining availability decision for this game.

Ayomanor is a deep league flex or DFS tournament dart, not an automatic season long starter. His efficiency is intriguing, but 10 catches in seven games is a thin volume base. Robinson gets the strongest PPR bump because his existing 29 catches give him a more reliable path to five plus targets. Ridley would have the highest ceiling if active without limitations, but his own hip status makes him a monitor rather than a blind start.

Ward takes a modest downgrade in two quarterback and superflex formats with Tate out. Cincinnati has allowed 1,523 passing yards on 202 attempts—7.5 yards per attempt—but only six passing touchdowns, while recording 21 sacks and four interceptions. The Bengals can be attacked for yardage, yet losing Tennessee’s leading receiver would reduce the offense’s explosive play probability.

The Bengals D/ST becomes a more attractive streaming option with Tate out, especially in leagues that reward sacks heavily. Cincinnati’s 21 sacks are a real pressure signal, while Tennessee has thrown five interceptions and scored just 11 total offensive touchdowns.

What fantasy managers should watch next

Two pieces of information can still change the replacement ranking: Calvin Ridley’s final active status and Tennessee’s pregame receiver rotation. With Tate out, Ridley and Wan’Dale Robinson are the safest target bets if Ridley is active without a restriction; Elic Ayomanor is the upside replacement. If Ridley is limited or unavailable, Ayomanor’s route volume could rise sharply, but the overall passing game efficiency would also carry more risk.

Tate is already ruled out. Check Tennessee’s official inactive list only to confirm the remaining receiver group and any late status change involving Calvin Ridley.
