Dallas Goedert Misses Practice: Week 7 Fantasy Outlook vs. Cowboys
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert did not practice Thursday because of a knee injury, putting one of Tanner McKee’s most reliable middle-of-the-field targets on the Week 7 watch list. The absence came on Philadelphia’s first injury report for Monday night’s home game against the Dallas Cowboys, so it is an early warning—not a declaration that Goedert will sit.
The timing matters for fantasy managers because Goedert has 17 catches for 180 yards and two touchdowns this season. He caught six passes in each of Philadelphia’s past two games, totaling 99 receiving yards over that stretch. With a thin tight end pool across many leagues, his final designation could alter both starting lineups and waiver priorities.
Dallas Goedert injury: what we know
Thursday status: Did not participate because of a knee injury.
Season production: 17 receptions, 180 yards, 10.6 yards per catch and two touchdowns.
Recent role: Six catches in Week 5 and six more in Week 6, including 61 yards in the most recent game.
Next game: Dallas at Philadelphia on Monday, October 26, at 8:15 p.m. ET (7:15 p.m. CT).
Goedert has not been ruled out. Friday and Saturday practice participation, the final game-status designation, any weekend roster activations and the inactive list released roughly 90 minutes before kickoff will provide the most useful checkpoints.
Why the injury matters to Philadelphia
The Eagles are already managing several pass-catcher injuries. Wide receivers DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) also missed Thursday’s practice, while running back Saquon Barkley was limited by a hamstring issue. A Goedert absence would remove another experienced option from an offense currently starting McKee while Jalen Hurts remains on injured reserve.
Philadelphia’s current depth chart lists Johnny Mundt behind Goedert. Mundt is an experienced blocker and spot receiver, but his 2025 line—nine catches for 111 yards in 17 games—shows why fantasy managers should not assume Goedert’s entire target share would transfer to him.
Grant Calcaterra and rookie Eli Stowers are more interesting receiving alternatives, but both remain in return windows from injured reserve and must be activated before they can play. Each was listed as a full participant Thursday. Their Saturday transaction status may be just as important as their practice participation. E.J. Jenkins, who had appeared on the published depth chart, was waived Thursday as part of Philadelphia’s roster moves.
Week 7 fantasy football outlook
If Goedert returns to full participation and avoids a game-status limitation, he remains a defensible TE1 or high-end streaming play. His 12 receptions over the past two games establish a usable floor, while the Cowboys matchup supplies touchdown upside.
Dallas has allowed 1,435 passing yards and 11 passing touchdowns through six games, with opponents averaging 5.8 yards per play. The Cowboys have only one defensive interception. Those numbers do not guarantee production, but they make a healthy Goedert’s route volume more attractive—especially if Smith or Wicks remains limited.
If Goedert is inactive, fantasy managers should treat Mundt as a touchdown-dependent emergency option rather than a direct replacement. Calcaterra would carry more receiving appeal if activated, but managers should wait for an official move. In deeper leagues, the better strategy may be to secure a Sunday tight end with a stable role instead of waiting until Monday and losing flexibility.
Practical lineup plan
Goedert managers: Keep him in a flex or tight-end slot that can be swapped late, and monitor every practice report.
Managers without a Monday backup: Add a viable Sunday option before waivers thin out.
DFS players: Reassess Goedert only after the final designation and projected snap count are clear.
Eagles receivers: A Goedert absence could raise short-area volume for the available wideouts and backs, but Philadelphia’s broader injury report makes that projection fragile.
What to watch before Cowboys–Eagles
The clearest green light would be a full practice with no game designation. A limited session followed by a questionable tag would keep Goedert playable only for managers with a credible Monday pivot. Another missed practice would materially increase the risk and make Saturday’s activations—and Monday’s inactive list—essential.
Philadelphia and Dallas both enter the matchup 2-4, adding urgency to an NFC East game in which one red-zone target can swing the result. Goedert’s knee status is therefore important beyond fantasy football: it affects McKee’s third-down options, the Eagles’ protection choices and how Dallas can allocate coverage inside.
