Greg Dulcich Limited After 86 Yards: Dolphins Week 8 Fantasy Outlook

Updated October 29, 2026, 10:00 a.m. CT. Miami Dolphins tight end Greg Dulcich was limited in Wednesday's practice by an ankle injury, four days after catching five passes for 86 yards against the New York Jets. Miami has not assigned him a game designation for Sunday's matchup with New England, so this is a status to monitor rather than evidence that he will sit.

What changed for Greg Dulcich

The official Patriots-Dolphins injury report lists Dulcich as a limited participant Wednesday. Fellow Miami tight end Will Kacmarek was also limited, with a hamstring issue, while wide receiver Malik Washington was limited by a knee injury. That makes Thursday and Friday participation especially important: Miami's pass-catcher picture could improve quickly, or remain unsettled into the weekend.

Dulcich's Week 7 performance was not empty volume. He caught five passes for 86 yards, including a 32-yard gain. Through six Miami games, the Dolphins list him at 18 receptions for 213 yards—an 11.8-yard average—with no touchdowns. His 213 receiving yards rank second on the team behind Washington's 289.

Why the depth chart matters

Miami's official depth chart lists Dulcich first at tight end, followed by Kacmarek, Seydou Traore and Justin Joly. If Dulcich practices fully by Friday and avoids a designation, that first-team role plus last week's downfield production gives him a legitimate streaming case.

If Dulcich is inactive, however, fantasy managers should not automatically transfer his entire workload to one backup. Kacmarek's own hamstring limitation complicates the handcuff logic, and neither Traore nor Joly has established a dependable fantasy floor. The more likely result would be targets redistributed across several players, subject to Friday's final report.

Week 8 fantasy football impact

Football Nation view (half-PPR): Dulcich is a high-end TE2 with TE1 upside if he finishes the week with a full practice and no game designation. His Week 7 yardage, starting depth-chart position and 11.8 yards per catch make him more attractive than a touchdown-only dart throw. He still belongs below locked-in every-week starters because he has not scored this season and Miami's offense has not produced steady passing volume.

If he remains limited Friday but is active, treat him as a volatile TE2 and keep a late-window replacement available. If he misses practice or receives a doubtful designation, move away before the early games. Fantasy managers with Dulcich should track Kacmarek too, because both tight ends appeared on the opening report.

The strongest reason for caution

One 86-yard game does not erase the larger offensive context. New England's official preview lists Miami 30th in passing offense at 162.0 yards per game and 29th in scoring at 16.3 points per game. Dulcich's team role is encouraging, but the weekly touchdown ceiling remains limited until the Dolphins generate more red-zone opportunities.

Matchup outlook vs. New England

The Patriots enter Sunday 4-3, while Miami is 1-5. New England's preview lists its pass defense 15th at 220.4 yards allowed per game and its defense with 17 sacks. That is not an automatic shutdown matchup, but the pass rush can shorten routes and disrupt the timing needed for chunk gains.

The game is scheduled for Sunday, November 1 at 4:25 p.m. ET in Miami. Because it is a late kickoff, managers using Dulcich should identify a late-game or Monday alternative before lineups lock.

Fantasy action plan

Start if: Dulcich practices fully Friday or avoids a game designation, and your alternative is a low-volume touchdown-dependent tight end. Hold with a backup if: he stays limited and is questionable. Sit if: he misses Friday or Miami signals a reduced role. Recheck the official report Friday afternoon and the inactive list about 90 minutes before kickoff.
