Jackson Powers-Johnson Questionable vs. Jets: Raiders O-Line and Fantasy Impact

Las Vegas Raiders right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson is questionable for Sunday’s Week 8 road game against the New York Jets after a back injury interrupted his practice week.

Powers-Johnson was not listed Wednesday, missed Thursday’s practice and returned as a limited participant Friday. That improvement gives him a legitimate chance to play, but fantasy managers should treat the Raiders’ interior offensive line as unsettled until the inactive list is released.

Information cutoff: Football Nation checked the official Raiders injury report, depth chart, player log, team statistics and Week 8 preview on October 31, 2026 at 10:16 UTC. Powers-Johnson remains questionable, so his final active status and workload are uncertain until Sunday.

Jackson Powers-Johnson injury update

The Raiders’ final injury report lists Powers-Johnson as questionable with a back injury. Head coach Klint Kubiak also identified him as questionable in Friday’s final update. The Raiders have not announced whether he will start if active.

The timing matters because Powers-Johnson is listed first at right guard on Las Vegas’ Week 8 depth chart. Caleb Rogers is the listed backup, and rookie tackle Trey Zuhn III has also taken work inside while the Raiders search for a more productive combination.

Why the Raiders’ right-guard plan is already fluid

Powers-Johnson has appeared in six games this season and started four. He started in Weeks 1, 2, 3 and 5, then came off the bench in Weeks 6 and 7. The Raiders have recently divided right-guard work between Powers-Johnson and Rogers, so a questionable designation adds uncertainty to a position that was already rotating.

The 2024 second-round pick brings valuable experience. Las Vegas credits him with 23 appearances and 21 starts over his first two seasons, including work at guard and center. His versatility makes him useful even if the coaching staff does not plan an every-snap role.

If Powers-Johnson is inactive, Rogers is the clearest next option because he is listed second at right guard. Zuhn is another possibility after practicing there during the week. That projection is based on the current depth chart and Kubiak’s recent comments; Las Vegas has not publicly named a replacement starter.

What it means for Ashton Jeanty

Ashton Jeanty remains the central fantasy player in this matchup. He has 328 rushing yards and one touchdown on 106 carries, an average of 3.1 yards per attempt. His receiving work has protected his weekly value: Jeanty leads the Raiders with 34 catches for 312 yards and three receiving touchdowns.

The broader rushing environment has been difficult. Las Vegas ranks 31st at 74.7 rushing yards per game, and Kubiak has described the struggles as a team-wide issue involving the backs, line and overall execution.

Powers-Johnson’s potential absence would be a modest negative for continuity, not a reason to bench Jeanty. The rookie’s receiving volume keeps him in fantasy lineups, and the matchup offers some relief: the Jets have allowed 894 rushing yards through seven games, 127.7 per game.

New York’s front is also short-handed. Defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat and edge Joseph Ossai are out, while edge defender David Bailey is doubtful. Those absences offset some of the concern created by Las Vegas’ uncertain right-guard rotation.

Kirk Cousins and Raiders passing-game impact

Kirk Cousins has thrown for 1,877 yards through seven games. Interior protection remains important because immediate pressure can disrupt timing before deeper routes develop, but Powers-Johnson’s status alone should not determine whether managers use Cousins or the Raiders’ pass catchers.

The Jets’ depleted front reduces the chance that one guard change becomes the decisive matchup variable. The more important question is whether Rogers or Zuhn can communicate cleanly with center Tyler Linderbaum and right tackle DJ Glaze if Powers-Johnson cannot handle his normal workload.

Strongest counterargument

The strongest counterargument is that New York’s injuries along the defensive front and Jeanty’s receiving usage can absorb much of the downside from one unsettled guard spot. That is why Football Nation treats this as a modest downgrade for rushing efficiency, not a reason to bench Jeanty or downgrade every Raiders pass catcher.

Fantasy football recommendations

Ashton Jeanty: Keep him in lineups. His receiving role creates a strong floor, though the offensive-line uncertainty limits confidence in a rushing breakout.

Kirk Cousins: A matchup-dependent option rather than an automatic start. Powers-Johnson playing would help continuity, but the Jets’ missing front-seven pieces are a meaningful counterweight.

Raiders pass catchers: Do not make a start-sit decision solely on this injury. Brock Bowers, Tre Tucker and Jeanty are driven more by target volume and game script than by one right-guard designation.

Jets D/ST: The Raiders’ line uncertainty adds some appeal, but New York’s own defensive injuries lower the ceiling. Treat the unit as a matchup streamer, not a lock.

What to monitor Sunday

The Raiders-Jets inactive list will be released approximately 90 minutes before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. If Powers-Johnson is active, watch whether he starts or continues rotating with Rogers. If he is inactive, Rogers is the likely first replacement, with Zuhn’s usage providing the next clue about Las Vegas’ longer-term plan.

The bottom line: Powers-Johnson’s return to limited practice is encouraging, but his questionable tag keeps the Raiders’ interior line unsettled. Jeanty remains a fantasy starter because of volume and receiving work, while the Jets’ depleted front prevents this from becoming a major downgrade.
