Max Mitchell Ruled Out vs. Raiders: Jets O-Line and Fantasy Impact

Information cutoff: October 31, 2026 at 11:16 AM CDT. Injury designations, depth-chart roles and player statistics were checked against official New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders sources at that time.

The New York Jets will enter Sunday's AFC matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders without reserve offensive lineman Max Mitchell, who has been ruled out while in the concussion protocol. Mitchell did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The important fantasy distinction is that starting left tackle Olu Fashanu remains available, so this is a depth loss—not an automatic downgrade for every Jets skill player.

Max Mitchell's Week 8 status

The Jets' final injury report lists Mitchell out with a concussion after three consecutive did-not-participate designations. Head coach Aaron Glenn also confirmed Mitchell will miss the game, along with Joseph Ossai and T'Vondre Sweat.

Mitchell already missed New York's Week 7 loss to Miami. The fifth-year lineman has appeared in 46 career games with 17 starts, but the Jets list him with one appearance and no starts in 2026. That résumé matters: he is experienced insurance, but he has not been a regular member of this year's starting five.

What changes on the Jets offensive line

New York's official depth chart lists Mitchell as the second-team left tackle behind Fashanu. Chukwuma Okorafor is the listed second-team right tackle behind Armand Membou, while Jordan Meredith backs up both left guard and center.

The starting lineup therefore does not need to change solely because Mitchell is unavailable. The practical concern is contingency planning: if Fashanu or another tackle leaves the game, the Jets have one fewer experienced option to reshuffle the edge of the line. Okorafor is the obvious active tackle reserve on the published depth chart, but New York's game-day inactive list will reveal the complete backup plan.

Left guard Dylan Parham is also questionable with a knee injury, although he progressed from limited work Wednesday and Thursday to a full practice Friday. His availability is more important to the opening lineup than Mitchell's. If Parham plays, the Jets can keep their preferred five intact.

Fantasy impact for Geno Smith and the Jets

Do not make a major fantasy downgrade to Geno Smith or Garrett Wilson because a reserve tackle is out. Smith has completed 70 percent of his passes for 1,623 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions through seven games. Wilson leads the team with 37 receptions, 444 yards and three scores. Their roles and efficiency outweigh this single depth-chart loss.

The matchup remains favorable on paper. The Raiders' official Week 8 preview lists Las Vegas 31st in total defense at 373.7 yards allowed per game, 30th against the run at 143.6 yards per game and 29th in scoring defense at 28.1 points allowed per game.

Smith remains a viable superflex or two-quarterback starter. Wilson stays in fantasy lineups as New York's clear top target. Las Vegas D/ST does not receive a meaningful bump from Mitchell's absence alone, though its ceiling would rise if the Jets lose a starting tackle during the game or Parham is inactive.

Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and the run game

According to New York's official 2026 statistics, Braelon Allen has 418 rushing yards on 91 carries—4.6 per attempt—while Breece Hall has 163 yards on 51 carries and 102 receiving yards. Hall is questionable with a quad injury; Allen practiced fully Thursday and Friday after an ankle issue.

Hall's game status and the backfield workload split are much bigger fantasy variables than Mitchell's absence. If Hall is active without restrictions, he profiles as a flex with receiving upside in a favorable run matchup. Allen should remain rostered everywhere and would move into the stronger start range if Hall is limited or inactive.

The strongest counterargument

Offensive-line depth can become decisive quickly. Mitchell's 17 career starts would normally give the Jets an experienced answer if Fashanu left the game. Without him, one injury at tackle could force Okorafor into a larger role or require a broader reshuffle. That downside is real—but it is a conditional risk, not the current starting configuration.

Game-day checklist

  • Max Mitchell is confirmed out and does not need a Sunday status check.

  • Confirm Breece Hall's active status and any reported workload restriction.

  • Check whether Dylan Parham is active after finishing the week with a full practice.

  • Identify which reserve tackles dress when inactive lists are released 90 minutes before kickoff.

Bottom line

Mitchell's absence reduces New York's margin for error at tackle, but it should not push Smith, Wilson or the Jets' running backs down fantasy rankings by itself. Treat it as a protection-depth concern that becomes actionable only if another lineman is unavailable. The Jets host the Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 1 at noon CT.
