What Happened?

The Green Bay Packers wrapped up their preseason with a solid 20-7 win over the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field. Seattle’s rookie QB, Jalen Milroe, got a tough welcome to the NFL, getting sacked five times and fumbling three times.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald kept starters Sam Darnold and Drew Lock sidelined, giving Milroe the full game experience. Despite the mistakes, Milroe showed grit, throwing for 148 yards and a touchdown, plus gaining 31 yards on the ground.

Standout Moments

  • Malik Willis (Packers): Came in for the first two series, started shaky with an interception but redeemed himself by leading a lengthy 96-yard drive finishing in a touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs.

  • Jalen Milroe (Seahawks): Rough outing with fumbles early but stayed positive after the game. Connected on a touchdown pass to Cody White, who had a strong day with 69 receiving yards and a 35-yard punt return.

  • Matthew Golden (Packers): The rookie WR made a highlight catch for 39 yards, showing why the Packers are excited about him.

  • Brenton Cox (Packers): Defensive standout who forced a fumble on Milroe and disrupted runs—making a solid case for himself in the defense rotation.

What We Learned

The Packers didn’t hold back early, playing plenty of their regulars to build a quick 10-0 lead. Meanwhile, the young Seahawks offense had some growing pains, especially with ball security. Coach LaFleur said getting reps in preseason is crucial for development.

Injury-wise, the Seahawks took a hit when receiver Jake Bobo suffered a concussion, and cornerback Tyler Hall hurt his knee, though the latter seems okay structurally. Green Bay’s starters seemed to come out unscathed. Quarterback Jordan Love sat out due to thumb surgery recovery but is expected back soon.

Looking Ahead

The regular season opener is just around the corner—Seattle heads to San Francisco, and Green Bay hosts Detroit on September 7. The preseason gave a pretty clear snapshot of what each team’s working on, especially the young QBs trying to prove themselves.

For Milroe, it was a tough but eye-opening day; for the Packers, solid progress and plenty of reasons for optimism heading into the season.
