Steelers 34, Colts 22: Jaylen Warren's Explosive Touchdowns Make the Difference

Pittsburgh beat Indianapolis 34 to 22 on October 11 behind two enormous Jaylen Warren touchdowns and an efficient Aaron Rodgers performance. The Steelers improved to 3 and 2 while the Colts slipped to 2 and 3.

Warren changed the field in seconds

Warren turned a short reception into an 80 yard touchdown and added a 50 yard touchdown run. He finished with 101 rushing yards on 15 carries and 87 receiving yards on six catches. Those two scores accounted for 130 of his 188 yards from scrimmage.

Rodgers kept the offense moving

Rodgers completed 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Pat Freiermuth caught two scoring passes. Pittsburgh combined explosive plays with a defense that limited Jonathan Taylor to 45 yards on 15 carries and Indianapolis to 66 rushing yards overall.

Why Indianapolis fell short

Daniel Jones threw for 267 yards, but the Colts leaned heavily on Spencer Shrader's five field goals. Repeatedly collecting three points made it difficult to keep pace with an opponent generating touchdowns from long distance.

Football Nation takeaway

Warren's receiving involvement adds value beyond his rushing line, but managers should also monitor Rico Dowdle's return from his toe injury. Pittsburgh's coaches have described a role for both backs when healthy. Do not simply project this game's workload forward unchanged. For Indianapolis, Taylor's poor afternoon is a matchup result worth understanding rather than an automatic reason to abandon an established starter.
