Texans 26, Titans 3: Anderson Leads Houston to Its First Win
Houston earned its first victory of the season with a 26 to 3 win at Tennessee on October 11. The Texans improved to 1 and 4, while the Titans remained winless at 0 and 5.
Defense shut the door
Tennessee scored a field goal on its opening possession and never scored again. Houston allowed just 187 total yards. Will Anderson Jr. recorded three sacks, Danielle Hunter added another, and Jake Hansen intercepted a pass. The Texans forced two turnovers while keeping the Titans out of the end zone.
Points accumulated, then touchdowns arrived
Ka'imi Fairbairn made four field goals in the first half to establish a 12 to 3 lead. Houston extended that advantage with two touchdowns after halftime. C.J. Stroud finished with 261 passing yards and a passing touchdown, along with a rushing score.
Why this result mattered
Houston had surrendered a halftime lead against Dallas the previous week. This time, its offense added to the advantage and its defense finished the assignment. The pass rush made Tennessee's attempts to recover increasingly difficult.
Football Nation takeaway
This was an encouraging defensive response, but opponent quality still matters when evaluating a fantasy defense. Managers should not assume Tennessee's offensive struggles will repeat against every Houston opponent. The Texans travel to face Jacksonville in London next, creating a different test. Stroud's steady play and the defense's pressure offer reasons for optimism; converting that into consecutive wins is the next step.
