Tyrell Shavers Ruled Out vs. Ravens: Bills WR and Fantasy Impact

3 min read

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Tyrell Shavers will not make his 2026 debut against the Baltimore Ravens. Shavers was limited in all three practices after Buffalo opened his 21-day return window, but the team ruled him out and said he will not be activated for Sunday.

The decision is more important for roster planning than for immediate redraft lineups. Shavers has not played in Buffalo’s first six games, so his absence does not remove targets from the established offense. It does, however, keep the Bills from adding another outside receiver while DJ Moore and Dalton Kincaid carry questionable designations.

Why Tyrell Shavers is out for Week 8

Shavers is returning from the torn ACL he suffered during last season’s Wild Card game against Jacksonville. Buffalo opened his practice window on Oct. 28 after he missed the first six games, giving the team time to evaluate his knee before moving him back to the active roster.

He practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Buffalo’s final injury report lists him as out, and head coach Joe Brady said the Bills will not activate him for the Ravens matchup. The practice window remains open, so the next checkpoint is whether Shavers progresses toward activation during the next two weeks.

What Shavers produced before the knee injury

Shavers appeared in all 17 regular-season games in 2025 and caught 15 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown. His 16.3 yards per reception showed the vertical and contested-catch value of a 6-foot-4, 211-pound receiver, even though he was not a high-volume fantasy option.

That profile makes him more interesting to the Bills than to most redraft managers. He can stretch the field, block and contribute on special teams, but he must first earn an active-roster spot and then work into a receiving group that has already established its roles.

Bills wide receiver depth chart without Shavers

Buffalo’s official depth chart lists DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman as the starting receivers, with Skyler Bell, Greg Dortch and Joshua Palmer behind them. Shavers’ continued absence leaves that existing six-player structure intact for Week 8.

Through six games, Shakir has 22 catches for 290 yards and one touchdown, while Coleman has 19 receptions for 283 yards and three scores. Moore has 12 catches for 178 yards and one touchdown, and Palmer has turned four receptions into 117 yards and two touchdowns.

The more important Sunday variable is Moore’s shoulder. He is questionable after three limited practices. If Moore is inactive, Shakir and Coleman would have the clearest path to additional perimeter work, while Palmer, Bell and Dortch could absorb situational snaps. Shavers is not a replacement option this week.

Fantasy football impact

Tyrell Shavers: Do not add him in standard redraft leagues. He is still on the reserve list, has not been activated and would likely need a ramp-up period even after returning. Dynasty managers with deep injured-reserve space can continue holding him.

Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman: Shavers being out does not materially change their projections because he has not played this season. Their upside depends more on the final statuses of Moore and Kincaid.

DJ Moore: Keep him in a flex range if active, but confirm Buffalo’s inactive list. His questionable shoulder designation is the direct source of target uncertainty in this receiving corps.

Josh Allen: No meaningful downgrade is warranted from Shavers’ status alone. Allen has thrown for 1,504 yards and nine touchdowns while Shavers has been unavailable all season.

Why this is still useful for dynasty and deep leagues

The practice-window news is a positive step even though Shavers is out. Buffalo would not have opened the window without believing he was ready for football activity, and three limited sessions gave the club its first in-season evaluation of his recovery.

The risk is that activation does not guarantee offensive volume. Shavers would return behind several established pass catchers, and Buffalo can use him primarily on special teams or as a situational outside receiver. Dynasty managers should value the rehabilitation progress, not assume an immediate fantasy role.

What to watch against Baltimore

The 5-1 Bills host the 4-3 Ravens on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. ET at Highmark Stadium. CBS will carry the game. Watch Buffalo’s inactive list for Moore and Kincaid, then track which reserve receivers join the first three-wide packages.

After Sunday, Shavers’ practice participation and a possible active-roster transaction will matter more than box-score speculation. Until Buffalo activates him, he remains a dynasty hold rather than a redraft waiver target.
