Will Reichard Sets Vikings Record Before Blocked Kick Ends Streak

Will Reichard owns the Minnesota Vikings' franchise record for consecutive made field goals, even though the streak itself is over. The third-year kicker reached 36 straight makes with a 47-yard field goal in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts, passing Gary Anderson's 35-make run from 1998.

The full sequence matters. Reichard entered Week 7 perfect on all 15 field-goal attempts this season and carrying a 34-make streak from 2025. He hit from 28 and 47 yards in the first half, had a 59-yard attempt blocked in the fourth quarter, then returned to make a 52-yarder with 1:39 remaining. The record remains 36; the successful 52-yarder started a new streak.

What Reichard accomplished

Reichard's 47-yarder in the second quarter pulled Minnesota within 7-6 and officially moved him past Anderson. The blocked 59-yarder came with 8:32 left in the fourth quarter, when Colts defensive tackle Grover Stewart got an arm on the kick. Minnesota did not retreat from Reichard after the block: the Vikings trusted him again from 52 yards, and his make supplied the final points of a six-point victory.

That response is as important for future usage as the record. A blocked attempt is not the same evaluation as a clean miss, and Minnesota immediately sent Reichard back out for another long try in a one-score game. Coaches showed that their confidence in his range survived the end of the streak.

Fantasy football impact

Reichard delivered three made field goals and one extra point against Indianapolis. That is 10 fantasy points in formats that award three points for every field goal, or 13 in common distance-based systems that award four points from 40-49 yards and five from 50-plus. League settings vary, especially on penalties for blocked or missed long attempts.

He remains a weekly starting kicker. Minnesota is 6-0, its defense keeps games controlled, and an offense that has sometimes stalled before the end zone is creating repeat field-goal chances. That combination supplies both floor and ceiling: Reichard can score even when the Vikings do not produce multiple touchdowns, and the team has demonstrated trust beyond 50 yards.

The risk is the same one attached to every fantasy kicker. Attempts are volatile, game script can erase field goals, and a more efficient red-zone day can turn three-point chances into extra points. Managers should value Reichard as a K1-range option, not chase the historical streak as if it guarantees future volume.

Why the blocked kick does not erase the record

The 59-yard block ended the run of consecutive makes, but it did not change the franchise milestone. Reichard still owns the Vikings record at 36. The distinction is useful for both football and fantasy analysis: the historical achievement describes what he completed, while the blocked attempt resets only the active streak.

It also prevents a misleading headline from following him into the next game. Reichard is no longer carrying a 37-make streak. He is carrying the franchise record, an 18-for-19 field-goal line for 2026 based on Sunday's official sequence, and a fresh one-make streak after the late 52-yarder.

What to watch next

The practical checkpoints are opportunity and distance. Track how often Minnesota's offense crosses midfield, how frequently drives stall inside long field-goal range, and whether the Vikings continue approving 50-plus-yard attempts in close games. Sunday's decision to try from 52 after the earlier block is the strongest immediate evidence that Reichard's role is unchanged.
