Bam Knight Concussion: Tyler Allgeier’s Week 9 Fantasy Outlook

Arizona Cardinals running back Bam Knight was ruled out of Sunday’s 33-30 overtime win over Dallas with a concussion. Knight’s status now joins Jeremiyah Love’s ankle injury as a major Week 9 variable for a backfield that may have to lean heavily on Tyler Allgeier against Seattle.

Knight’s inclusion in the concussion protocol means there is no responsible early week timetable for his return. Fantasy managers should treat practice participation and the final injury designation—not speculation—as the meaningful checkpoints.

What happened to Bam Knight?

Knight left late in the second quarter after taking contact on a fumble. Arizona ruled him out with a concussion. He finished the game with three carries for eight yards and one reception for 10 yards.

The injury came during a difficult stretch for Arizona’s offense. Love had already exited with an ankle injury, and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne also left with an ankle issue. The Cardinals completed the comeback, but their Week 9 skill position plan now depends on several medical updates.

Knight’s efficiency had earned a real role

Knight has 28 carries for 168 yards this season, an even 6.0 yards per attempt, plus six receptions for 43 yards. He is listed third on Arizona’s official depth chart behind Allgeier and Love, with Evan Hull fourth, but the raw ordering understates how useful Knight had become while Love was sidelined.

One week earlier, Knight produced 80 yards on 15 carries while sharing the backfield with Allgeier. That performance gave Arizona a credible rotation instead of forcing every early-down touch through one runner.

Why Tyler Allgeier becomes the priority

Allgeier responded to the Week 8 attrition with 11 carries for 147 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown, and he added a receiving score. His combination of current health, depth-chart position and demonstrated workload makes him the first fantasy beneficiary if Knight and Love are limited or unavailable.

That does not make Allgeier’s Week 9 volume certain. Love’s ankle status is being handled on its own canonical timeline, and Knight can only return after completing the concussion protocol. The range of outcomes runs from a three player committee to an Allgeier led backfield with Hull as the primary reserve.

Week 9 matchup at Seattle

Arizona visits Seattle on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 3:25 p.m. Central. Entering Seattle’s Monday-night Week 8 game, Seahawks opponents had rushed 180 times for 626 yards—3.5 yards per attempt—and four touchdowns. Those figures are a snapshot and will change after Monday night.

The matchup is not an automatic efficiency boost, but concentrated volume can matter more than a perfect rushing matchup in fantasy football. If Allgeier is the only fully healthy member of Arizona’s top three, 15-plus touches would be a reasonable projection range rather than a guarantee.

Fantasy football recommendations

Tyler Allgeier: Make him the priority add where available. He belongs in the RB2/flex conversation if both Knight and Love miss Week 9. If Love returns to a full workload, Allgeier becomes a more volatile flex whose value depends on goal line and receiving usage.

Bam Knight: Hold him in deeper leagues and on injured reserve spots where the platform allows it. His 6.0 yard average makes him more than a replaceable reserve, but managers should not count on a Week 9 return before protocol progress is documented.

Evan Hull: He is a contingency add in deep leagues, not a standard waiver claim yet. Hull’s value rises only if Arizona’s practice usage shows him working directly behind Allgeier or if both Knight and Love are ruled out.

Cardinals passing game: A thinner backfield could create more short area work for Trey McBride and Michael Wilson, but the larger variable is the quarterback plan after Gardner Minshew’s three-touchdown comeback. Do not assume a passing-volume spike solely because two backs were injured.

The practice report checklist

• Wednesday: whether Knight participates and whether Love returns to work after aggravating his ankle.

• Thursday: whether Knight advances through protocol activity and which runner takes second team snaps.

• Friday: the official game designation and any roster move involving Hull or another back.

• Sunday: the inactive list, released 90 minutes before kickoff.

Bottom line

Knight’s concussion is a genuine loss for a Cardinals backfield that had started to find efficient depth. Allgeier is the actionable fantasy add because he just converted expanded work into 147 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. Still, Week 9 rankings should remain conditional until Arizona reports Knight’s protocol progress and Love’s ankle status.
