Calvin Ridley Downgraded to DNP: Week 7 Fantasy Impact vs. Browns

Calvin Ridley’s Week 7 availability moved in the wrong direction Thursday. The Tennessee Titans listed the veteran wide receiver as a non-participant because of a hip injury after he was limited Wednesday, creating a meaningful Friday-status watch before Sunday’s home game against the Cleveland Browns.

The downgrade does not automatically rule Ridley out. It does, however, make Friday’s practice report and the weekend’s final game designation essential for fantasy managers. Tennessee hosts Cleveland on Sunday, October 25, at noon CT at Nissan Stadium.

Calvin Ridley injury status at a glance

Wednesday: limited participation with a hip injury. Thursday: did not participate. Friday: final practice status and official game designation still pending as of Thursday night.

A midweek move from limited work to no practice can reflect soreness, a planned workload adjustment or a setback. Until Tennessee provides more information, the responsible fantasy approach is to treat Ridley as genuinely questionable—not definitely out and not safely active.

Why the Week 7 matchup matters

Ridley has not supplied dependable fantasy production in 2026. The NFL’s current season summary lists him with five receptions for 81 yards and no touchdowns across six games. That modest output already made him a difficult lineup decision; the hip issue adds another layer of risk.

Tennessee’s passing environment has also limited the ceiling of every receiver. The Titans entered the week ranked 32nd in total offense at 236.3 yards per game and tied for 31st in scoring at 14.0 points per game, according to the team’s official site. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward and the offense now face a 4-2 Cleveland team while Tennessee sits at 1-5.

For fantasy purposes, that combination means Ridley should not be treated as a must-start simply because he is Tennessee’s most established outside receiver. Even if he is cleared, managers should check for a full Friday practice and any indication that he could be limited on game day.

Fantasy football impact if Ridley plays

If Ridley returns to practice Friday and enters the weekend without a restrictive designation, he remains a volatile deep-league option rather than a locked-in starter. His season-long volume and production have not created a reliable floor, and a hip injury can affect acceleration, route breaks and downfield separation.

Managers with alternatives in more stable offenses should lean toward the healthier option. Ridley becomes more usable in deeper leagues or formats that reward big plays, but the current evidence does not support forcing him into standard 10- or 12-team lineups.

Who benefits if Ridley is inactive?

Wan’Dale Robinson and rookie Carnell Tate would be the most logical candidates for additional targets. Tennessee’s official depth chart lists Ridley, Robinson and Tate as the starting receivers, with Chimere Dike directly behind Ridley and Elic Ayomanor behind Tate.

Robinson is the best bet for short-area volume because his role can provide quick, accessible throws for Ward. Tate offers the more interesting upside swing if Tennessee must chase points. Both would gain opportunity, but the Titans’ low-scoring offense keeps their projections in the flex range rather than turning either player into an automatic start.

Dike is the direct depth-chart replacement on Ridley’s side, making him a name to monitor in very deep leagues and dynasty formats. That is different from being the most likely target leader. A wider snap share would not guarantee fantasy relevance, so managers should avoid an aggressive waiver bid based only on the depth-chart alignment.

Impact on Cam Ward and the Titans

A Ridley absence would narrow Ward’s experienced receiving options and could encourage a shorter passing plan built around Robinson, running backs and tight ends. It might also create more routes for Tate and Dike, but a redistribution of opportunity is not the same thing as an improved matchup.

Tony Pollard’s Thursday absence was listed as rest, while Tyjae Spears was a full participant on a rest designation. Those entries do not currently suggest a backfield injury issue, but they reinforce that Tennessee may need its running game to stabilize the offense if Ridley cannot play.

What fantasy managers should watch next

Friday’s participation level is the first checkpoint. A return to full practice would ease concern, while another DNP would put Ridley in serious danger of missing the game. Limited work followed by a questionable designation would likely make him a Sunday-morning decision.

Managers should also watch Tennessee’s inactive list 90 minutes before kickoff. Because the game begins in the early Sunday window, there will be time to pivot to Robinson, Tate or another early-game receiver if Ridley is ruled out.

Bottom line

Ridley’s Thursday downgrade is a legitimate Week 7 concern, but it is not yet a declaration that he will miss the Browns game. His limited 2026 production already made him a risky fantasy start. If he sits, Robinson and Tate gain the clearest target upside, while Dike is the direct depth-chart replacement and a deeper-league watch rather than a priority add.
