Cardinals Promote Evan Hull: Week 7 Fantasy Impact With Jeremiyah Love Out

Information cutoff: October 24, 2026 at 5:40 PM Central. Arizona's transaction log, injury report, backfield context and team statistics were checked at that time.

The Arizona Cardinals promoted running back Evan Hull from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, but fantasy managers should not treat the move as a surprise handoff of the backfield. With Jeremiyah Love ruled out against Denver, Hull gives Arizona a third available game day runner behind Tyler Allgeier and Bam Knight.

The practical takeaway is straightforward: Hull has earned a longer roster commitment, yet the Cardinals still list him fourth on the depth chart. He is emergency depth and a developmental watch, not a Week 7 fantasy starter.

What Arizona changed Saturday

Arizona moved Hull onto the active roster and released safety Wydett Williams Jr. The club also elevated offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun and defensive lineman Jared Harrison Hunte for the Broncos game. Hull wore No. 26 during the week and had already been elevated for Arizona's previous game.

The timing is tied directly to Love's ankle injury. Arizona ruled Love out for a second consecutive week, while the official injury report also ruled out right guard Jon Gaines II, defensive tackle Walter Nolen III and safety Dewey Wingard.

The Cardinals backfield hierarchy remains clear

Coach Mike LaFleur said Arizona will again lean on the Allgeier and Knight combination. In last week's victory over the Rams, Allgeier handled 18 carries but gained only 38 yards. Knight produced 80 yards on 15 attempts, showing the better efficiency and earning a meaningful case for another sizable role.

Love entered the week with 67 carries for 245 yards and one touchdown this season. His absence removes a regular piece of the rotation, but the Cardinals have already shown how they intend to replace those snaps. Hull's promotion protects the roster behind the top two backs instead of rewriting the pecking order.

What Evan Hull brings to the active roster

Hull is a 5 foot 10, 209 pound back who entered the NFL as Indianapolis' fifth round pick in 2023. His regular season opportunities have been limited, but he made a strong impression in Arizona's preseason finale with 107 rushing yards on 16 carries. That performance included a 47 yard touchdown run.

The promotion is still notable because it converts Hull from a weekly practice squad option into a member of the 53 man roster. It gives Arizona more control over his availability and creates a path to a larger role if another injury hits. For Sunday, however, his best route to touches is likely relief work, special teams involvement or a game script that allows the Cardinals to protect Allgeier and Knight.

Fantasy football impact

Tyler Allgeier: Treat him as a volume based flex or lower end RB2. The 18 carries last week are encouraging, but 38 yards show that workload alone does not guarantee an efficient fantasy day.

Bam Knight: He is the more explosive Week 7 flex candidate after averaging more than five yards per carry against the Rams. The concern is whether Arizona again gives Allgeier the first opportunity near the goal line and in early down situations.

Evan Hull: Leave him on waivers in normal redraft leagues. Deep dynasty managers can monitor him, and managers with unusually large benches may use him as a speculative injury contingency. There is not enough evidence to start him or use him as a standard DFS value.

Jeremiyah Love: Keep him rostered. The Cardinals are resting him for another week rather than announcing a longer absence, so his next practice report matters more than Hull's promotion for the medium term fantasy outlook.

The Denver matchup adds risk

Denver enters the game 4 and 2, while Arizona is 2 and 4. The Broncos recorded five sacks and three takeaways in their Week 6 victory over Seattle and have produced 10 takeaways this season, tied for third most in the league. That pressure creates a real chance Arizona plays from behind or loses possessions before the backfield can build volume.

That does not erase the rushing opportunity, but it raises the floor risk for every Cardinals back. Allgeier and Knight remain the only reasonable Week 7 fantasy plays from this group.

What to watch Sunday

First, confirm that Hull is active when the inactive lists are released. A promotion to the 53 man roster does not guarantee a game day uniform.

Second, track which back handles the opening series, passing downs and red zone snaps. Those roles will tell fantasy managers more than the raw carry total.

Third, watch whether Knight's Week 6 efficiency earns him a larger share or whether Allgeier remains the clear volume leader. Hull becomes fantasy relevant only if he moves ahead of one of those two or an additional injury changes the depth chart.

Bottom line

Evan Hull's promotion is a useful roster signal for the rest of the season, but it is not a green light for Week 7 fantasy lineups. Arizona has already identified Allgeier and Knight as its working tandem while Love recovers. Hull is a deep league watch whose next meaningful checkpoint is Sunday's active status and snap share.
