Week 6 Fantasy Football Rankings: Every Position, FLEX and Injury Contingencies

12 min read

Start your dependable volume before chasing last week's touchdowns. Josh Allen leads our quarterback board, Bijan Robinson leads the running backs, Puka Nacua leads the receivers and Trey McBride leads the tight ends. The difficult Week 6 decisions are farther down: replacement backfields, returning quarterbacks and a Thursday receiver whose medical clearance can change your whole lineup.

Information cutoff: October 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM Central. Performance evidence includes completed games through Monday, October 12. These are Football Nation editorial forecasts for Week 6, not Week 5 scoring results, consensus ranks or claimed point projections. Sunday final injury designations were not yet available at this cutoff. A listed rank does not certify medical clearance.

Scoring and how to use this board

The offensive format is one quarterback, half PPR, one point per 10 rushing or receiving yards, six per rushing or receiving touchdown, one per 25 passing yards, four per passing touchdown, minus two per interception and minus two per lost fumble. There are no yardage bonuses or tight end premiums. FLEX means running back, receiver or tight end, never quarterback.

Our order emphasizes expected opportunity, recent role, scoring access and matchup, with injury uncertainty kept visible. A change in role matters more than a tiny rank difference. Full PPR gives catch volume more weight; standard scoring increases the relative appeal of rushing and touchdown access. Six point passing touchdown leagues can favor pocket passers more than this four point format.

Cincinnati, Detroit, Miami and Minnesota are on bye. Seattle at Denver is Thursday, October 15; Houston at Jacksonville is the early London game Sunday, October 18; Washington at San Francisco is Monday, October 19. The official slate was checked against the NFL schedule and an independent matchup list. All matchup cells below use those verified opponents. [S1] [S2]

Flag A means the player's own availability needs confirmation. Flag R means the rank depends on a replacement role. Flag Q means quarterback availability could materially alter the receiver's outlook. These are FN decision flags, not official NFL game designations. An unflagged row still requires the normal final report and inactive check.

Quarterbacks: top 12

Player identities and current Week 6 opponents were cross checked against the public FantasyData board; the order and tiers below are FN's own. Lamar Jackson and Caleb Williams are conditional entries, not declarations that either will play. [S3] [S8] [S9]

Allen's 121 rushing yards Monday underline why the passing box score alone does not describe his fantasy floor. [S10] FN analysis: do not project that rushing total forward, but do not bench this kind of dual scoring access for a quarterback who merely has an attractive opponent. Love is our strongest pocket passer upgrade. Green Bay's official recap records 367 passing yards against Chicago, while Dallas reports that every opposing starter through five games posted a passer rating above 100. [S11] [S12] The counterargument is real: one explosive game is not a new weekly baseline. A sharp protection setback or material receiver absence would lower Love.

Jackson's ankle was improving, but Baltimore had not confirmed Wednesday participation in Monday's update. [S8] His rank assumes he starts without a reported restriction that materially removes his rushing value. With full clearance and normal mobility, we would move him into the premium group. If he cannot play, remove him and move the lower names up; do not transfer QB8 to Tyler Huntley. Williams likewise needs clearance after three missed games. Chicago's official Monday account described a return for Atlanta as still close, not certain. [S9] Hold a playable alternative rather than treating optimism as a locked lineup.

Running backs: top 20

Current team identities were cross checked against FantasyData and Sports Illustrated, with Kenneth Walker III's Chiefs identity independently verified in his official NFL log. The ordering is original FN analysis. Saquon Barkley is deliberately on the contingency board, not assigned a misleading unconditional number. [S4] [S5] [S13]

The top seven are one anchor tier, not seven different levels of confidence. We put Kyren Williams ahead of Jonathan Taylor for this particular week, while retaining Taylor's normal starter status. That is a matchup and opportunity judgment, not a prediction that Taylor has suddenly become less talented. Resist using a tight weekly ordering as a trade value chart.

Stevenson's upgrade rests on opportunity, not a touchdown streak. NFL reporting attributes an expected multiple week absence for TreVeyon Henderson to ESPN's Adam Schefter after a high ankle sprain. [S14] The counterweight is New England's line: Will Campbell is also expected to miss time. [S14] A larger share does not guarantee better blocking. Braelon Allen's official Week 5 log lists 24 carries, 116 yards and a touchdown. [S15] His placement assumes Breece Hall remains unavailable; a full Hall return takes away the premise, not merely one or two ranking spots.

Wilson's rank assumes Zach Charbonnet is not activated for Thursday. Seattle's own report still places Charbonnet on PUP and describes a return this week as unlikely. [S7] Marks' new role is promising, but his London matchup is not a promise of another breakout. His official log records 19 touches Sunday, compared with six in Week 4. [S16] David Montgomery was described as week to week with a groin injury by DeMeco Ryans. [S17] If Montgomery returns to his prior workload, Marks becomes a FLEX consideration rather than this RB2 recommendation.

Wide receivers: top 24

Current team identities were cross checked across the FantasyData and Sports Illustrated boards; Mike Evans' San Francisco identity and DJ Moore's Buffalo identity were also confirmed in official NFL records. All ranks are FN judgments, not a reproduced external chart. [S6] [S18] [S19] [S20]

Smith Njigba's Tuesday ankle listing was an estimate, not a final game decision. Denver also estimated Patrick Surtain II and Talanoa Hufanga as nonparticipants. [S7] FN analysis: keep the elite receiver high when cleared, but make the Thursday decision from Wednesday's final report and the inactive list. A normal practice and an unrestricted role preserve the rank; a credible snap limit would make a healthy premium option preferable. Lamb's current concern is a quad injury documented by Dallas, not an old concussion report. [S12] He stays high if the week's practice supports normal use.

Watson's six catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns were backed by Golden's six for 123 in the same game. [S11] FN analysis: that supports two usable Green Bay starters, but it also gives the strongest argument against chasing Watson's ceiling as a guaranteed floor. Explosive gains can swing between teammates. We lean Watson for the larger scoring ceiling and keep Golden inside WR2 range. Evans' current SF team matters when you compare matchups, and Moore needs an actual return: Buffalo officially listed him inactive Monday. [S19] [S21]

London, Flowers and Burden require a quarterback checkpoint. Reassess the likely pass volume and scoring environment once the starter is confirmed. Rice's WR14 assumes recovery from the hamstring injury that ended his Week 4 game; the bye is not proof of clearance. [S29] Coker's reported progress is encouraging, not a final designation. [S31] McConkey was active only for an emergency Sunday and played no snaps, according to reporting of Jim Harbaugh's explanation. [S30] Normal use puts him back into WR2 consideration; another emergency role does not.

Tight ends: top 12

The current positional pool and teams were cross checked against FantasyData and Sports Illustrated, with Isaiah Likely's Giants identity independently verified in his NFL log. [S22] [S23] [S24]

Likely's official log records 11 catches and two touchdowns Sunday. [S24] FN analysis: treat that as a usable receiving role, not a repeat touchdown forecast. Strange has seven catches in each of his last two games. [S28] His TE9 placement is aggressive but gives actual receiving volume more weight than name recognition. A reduced passing role would reverse it.

FLEX: top 30

This is the cross position decision board for the same half PPR format. The order intentionally remains consistent with each position table. The flags and assumptions carry over. Bowers, McBride and Kittle are eligible FLEX choices, but if your league requires a tight end, fill that mandatory slot first.

Defenses and special teams: top 12

Our D/ST frame awards one point per sack, two per interception or fumble recovery, six per defensive or return touchdown and two per safety. Points allowed award 10 for zero, seven for one through six, four for seven through 13, one for 14 through 20, zero for 21 through 27, minus one for 28 through 34 and minus four for 35 or more. No yardage penalty is used. Your platform's definition of chargeable points and special teams scoring can alter the result. These are matchup forecasts, not promised defensive touchdown projections. The current pool was cross checked against SI's public board. [S25]

Defense selection is a different problem from identifying the best real football defense. We prefer pressure and turnover opportunities over last week's fantasy score. New England narrowly leads our opening board for floor; Kansas City belongs in the same preferred tier and can win the week on ceiling. Denver is provisional because secondary availability changes the risk. Baltimore acknowledged continued third down problems Monday. [S8] The counterargument is that sustained opposing drives can erase anticipated sack volume. Do not pay for a defensive touchdown that has not happened.

The contingency board that can change everything

Checkpoint

If the news is positive

If the premise fails

Barkley and DeVonta Smith

Normal Barkley workload puts him back in the anchor conversation; Smith reenters WR2 consideration

Do not turn hopeful return reporting into clearance; Pierce is considered only after the lead role is confirmed

Breece Hall

An unrestricted return puts Hall into RB2 discussion

Braelon Allen retains his replacement rank only if Hall remains unavailable

Lamar Jackson and Caleb Williams

Clearance plus normal mobility validates a conditional start

Remove the absent quarterback; choose a confirmed alternative

A.J. Brown

Activation and an identifiable route role reopen his lineup case

Keep him outside this active board rather than assume an IR return

DJ Moore and Jalen Coker

Normal participation supports WR2 consideration

Use a healthy replacement and reassess receiving distribution

Thursday's Seattle and Denver reports

Full roles preserve the elite receiver and improve confidence in healthy units

Medical limitations override a Wednesday rank

Sirianni's hope that Barkley and Smith return was reported Monday, not a final designation. [S26] Vrabel confirmed only a chance of Brown returning. [S27] This board also deliberately keeps injured David Montgomery and TreVeyon Henderson out of the ranked pool. A return to practice, activation and normal football workload are three different checkpoints. An active player can still be restricted.

Football Nation's lineup conclusion

Lock in your established anchors, create an alternative for every availability flag and preserve timing flexibility. Put an early game player in a fixed position slot when possible, leaving a later player in FLEX so a replacement can come from more than one position. Never leave a questionable Monday player without a Monday eligible alternative merely because his Wednesday ranking is attractive.

The next checkpoints are Wednesday's Thursday game designations, Thursday inactives, Friday's Sunday final reports, Sunday's London and afternoon inactives, and Monday's Washington at San Francisco availability. Check your league's exact lock settings. This is the original Wednesday FN board; the right response to new evidence is a clear revision, not pretending the first order was certain.
